Born out of Tyler Shusterman's and Sean Stringfellow's extensive song catalogs, Allofasudden has evolved into a powerful rock band. Since 2006, they have built a a reputation throughout California known for their driving rhythms, fiery guitar playing, and layered harmonies.
"Unafraid to play big, there's something of '70s Santana to them but also the bump of New Orleans soulrock and no small part of pure jam culture exploration...bands often get timid when climbing musical mountains but such grand scale grappling seems their natural pocket." - Dennis Cook, Associate Editor, Jambase.com
AOS's sophomore effort, Drink the Ocean (available 5/24/11), is a complex and cohesive album that incorporates large sounds, dark themes and instrumental exploration. The addition of Nathan Cole (keys) and Art McConnel (drums), has allowed the songwriting to mature and AOS uses this to their advantage as heard on the first two singles. "Drove All Night", a modern surf song, captures the fearless joys of the ocean as well as the bitter intensity of traversing building swells. The dark but uplifting second single, "Sweetheart Trees" proclaims "This is my dream, I can do anything". A truly epic rock anthem, it will reel you in you with its surging hooks, and a 2 1/2 minute ever-building instrumental coda.
