Robert Walter's 20th Congress

  • Giving up the Ghost
    Giving up the Ghost
The former Greyboy Allstar explores new territory, incorporating elements of electronic music and dub reggae into his traditional R&B and jazz roots, all powered by the flavor of his vintage Fender Rhodes and Hammond B-3 Organ.

    There Goes The Neighborhood
Robert Walter's "solo" project is one of great funkiness. Although his 20th Congress continues to tour, the keyboard wizard has put together an album of absurdly groovin' tunes. Backed by jazz/funk pioneers Harvey Mason (drums), Red Holloway (sax), Chuck Rainey (bass), and Phil Upchurch (guitar), Walter proves that he can play with the best on "There Goes the Neighborhood".
Track Listing: 1- 2% Body Fat 2- Bread and Water 3- There Goes the Neighborhood 4- Wade in the Water 5- The Tease 6- 4:00 Wash Up 7- Corner Store 8- Bakery Blues 9- Swap Meet 10- My Babe 11- Suede

    Money Shot
This debut full-length recording for Fog City Records, Robert enlisted Galactic drummer (and fellow fog city recording artist) Stanton Moore to inject some crescent city syncopation into the project. Also contributing to the 20th Congress gumbo are some of the baddest players from the san diego funk scene: Cochemea Gastelum (whose electric alto sax and use of echo effects recalls shades of his heroes Eddie Harris and Bennie Maupin), bassist David Carano, percussionist Chuck Prada and Greyboy Allstars guitarist Elgin Park.
