As a young secular Israeli prog-rock electric guitar player, Yosi was brought to the United States by saxophone legend Stan Getz in the Mid 70's to record some of his original music, after a chance meeting in Jerusalem. Record company squabbles led to the project never being commercially released.

A spiritual reconnection with their Jewish roots led brothers Yosi, and flutist brother Avi Piamenta to settle in Brooklyn NY, focusing the Piamenta Bands energies towards to a traditional Jewish audience. The Piamenta Band forever redefined face of popular Jewish music, by injecting a frenetic fusion of Judeo-Arabic Oriental music, with its quarter-tones and wild spiraling improvisations, with classic rock wha-wha guitar riffs and manic flute interplay. The late 80's and early 90's saw the Piamenta Band successfully bring their original material to NYC clubs like Wetlands, Tramps, and the Knitting Factory.
