The Current
The Current The Current is an exciting new band based out of Los Angeles, California. The wall of sound these four musicians create blends elements of stripped down blues, swamp-funk, and boogie into an original recipe of grassroots rock n' roll. Their ability to combine creative songwriting and stellar musicianship is a fresh breath for today's music. The band has performed at various venues in Los Angeles including recent stints at the Knitting Factory, B.B. King's Blues Club, and The Derby, just to name a few. Founding member EJ Wasik developed his solid drumming ability performing nightly at Disney's Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida. Singer, guitarist and songwriter Josh Cohen attended Cal Arts where his exposure to many genres of music influenced his adventurous guitar style. His singing and songwriting abilities have already developed far beyond his age. John Stachela on lead and slide guitar has been surrounded by music his entire life. His father exposed him to rock greats like Jimi Hendrix at a very young age, and he quickly became inseparable from his guitar. The electric chemistry he shares with Josh is apparent in their twin-harmony guitar attack. Mike Setzer on bass brings soulful lead vocals, mature songwriting, and thunder to the Current. The LA Music Scene published, "John Stachela on guitar is something to see. He plays with the discipline and accuracy of some of the legendary blues predecessors". The Current is an original band that draws inspiration from legendary jam bands such as the Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, and Led Zeppelin. They have a modern day approach that is focused solely on the music. http://www.thecurrentband.com
