Formed in February 2001, writing partners Jonathan Haskell and Marc Herron have a history spanning over 10 years. Spinning a combination of folk and ambient-rock oriented styles, angeles drake has been hailed by critics and press alike as "Original and alternative rock from an up and coming Southern California band to watch!" Since releasing their debut self-titled six-song e.p. in May 2002, angeles drake has received a list of accomplishments a mile along—winning the 2002 VW/Clear Channel battle of the bands contest for the Southern California region, included in industry compilations such as Community Musician’s Winter 2002 compilation and Band Promote’s April 2003 Sampler, appearing in numerous short films including Spaghetti Desert and The Picture, featured artist of month slots on 8ballradio.com (July 2002) and indiemusicsite.com (August 2002), opening for such acts as Rusted Root, Mike Doughty (formerly of Soul coughing), Phantom Planet, Electrasy and Maxeen, headlining such venues as the Viper Room, the Whisky a Go-Go, the Dragonfly and the Gig, performing on the main stage at such college campuses as USC, UCLA, Pitzer and Cal State Fullerton and being selected to perform at Acoustic Live sponsored by Lamusicscene.com and Sonicbids.com.
