Chuck Beattie and Blues By Design Long time jazz aficionado and blues historian Chuck Beattie fronts this five-piece Chicago-Style Blues band. A member of the North Carolina Jazz Ensemble, Beattie utilizes his knowledge of blues and his jazz background to draw out the best of Chicago Style Blues. This Muddy Waters rich music is perfect for house parties, shows, and clubs of all kinds with slow blues and hot danceable blues music. Select members of Asheville’s blues players round out the sound of the blues behind Beattie’s commanding voice with a guitar, drums, bass and keyboard rhythm section that does the slow burn as good as the boogie. Beattie hosts the long running Thursday night Blues Jam at the Asheville Pizza Café in Weaverville, playing opening and closing sets. The rest of the evening is a mixture of bands and hot local players sitting in for a night of the blues. “The purpose of this band is to play and enjoy the blues, learn all we can about the blues and teach it to others, it’s all about the music”, explains Beattie.
