2 Bass 3 is the incarnate trio for the new millennium. And with a focus perpetually concentrated on live performance, these guys are on the road to making their mark on the world. “We don't fit into the live music scene and that is why people are looking at it... You really have to see it to understand. I think we're like a live anomaly. It's happening out there. There are all brass groups out there. There are gimmicks out there. I'm a gimmick guy... my bands are going to be something different,” said Vince Howard, drummer. With a strong foundation in two essential elements of American culture, jazz and hip-hop, 2Bass3 is constantly pushing towards blurring the genre lines between the two. Infusions of funk, jam, soul, R&B, dub and electronica brew an eclectic sound that is soaked in rarity, while still maintaining focus on the vivacious improvisation of old-school Blue Note jazz. It is by this method 2 Bass 3 brings a fresh urban blend of influences to the stage. Factor in unique instrumentation and the will to generate a sensational stage show, and audiences are destined to experience a succession of climaxes that beg for movement as well as meditation. By basing their approach on the fundamental hip-hop philosophies of self-knowledge and positive energy, and oftentimes featuring a variety of emcees, guest players, and/or DJs, the well-rounded nucleus of Nathan Wilcox on sousaphone/trombone, Max Gise on guitar, and Vince Howard on drums/vocals brings an organic roots sound to the world that is guaranteed to draw a crowd. National Acts We've Played With: Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Drums and Tuba, Youngblood Brass Band
