New York City native Ari Hest realized his destiny while in high school when he decided to trade in his baseball bat for an acoustic guitar. He started writing songs in his bedroom, and brought those songs off to college campuses with him and performed them live. Independently, he built a fanbase by relentlessly touring colleges and clubs, growing a loyal street team one music fan at a time.
In 2004, Ari saw opportunity knocking and it was Columbia Records at the door. “Someone To Tell” was released on the label later that year. Ari dove in and made himself at home, on the road, once again.
It is now the summer of 2006, and Ari has finished recording his latest album with producer Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Ron Sexsmith). The fate of this album is still unwritten. Ari still holds his guitar and writes in his room - this time with more conviction. Come see Ari on the road this summer, where he will be playing the new music he has recorded with Froom. He might even throw you a curveball or two.
