Lucid is now getting ready to throw the second annual Backwoods Pondfest this September, on the 5th and 6th, with Boire Design and Kali Productions. This year we’re bringing in Assembly of Dust, Ryan Montbleau, John Brown’s Body, and RAQ, just to name a few. In August of last year Lucid linked up with Kali Productions to put together our first Backwoods Pondfest which proved to be a rousing success. The festival featured bands like The New Groove Orchestra, Roots of Creation, Rolla featuring Fuzz of Deep Banana Blackout, and many other great bands. Lucid performed both nights last year and are closing both nights this year.
Backwoods Pondfest made a big splash in the area! It was featured in The Press Republican, Fourth Coast Entertainment Magazine, and State of Mind Magazine. The SUNY Plattsburgh TV station also aired footage of Lucid at Backwoods Pondfest in October of last year as well. Lucid is also broadcast on the SUNY Plattsburgh TV Station’s show, "Amplified." .
Lucid is also in the studio working on a double disc album. This will be their second album after only being together for three years. Always interested in fresh approaches, Lucid is recording with producer, engineer, rapper, and good friend Benn Erb. This represents a change from their last album, "Miles Deep," which was recorded in Vermont at Chuck Eller Sutdio’s. Chucks’ worked with bands like The Allman Brothers, Phish, and Oyesterhead, along with many other great bands that have influenced the members of Lucid.
Lucid has donated their talent and expertise to many local charity fundraisers for which they have received well-earned publicity. Articles about these events and Lucids other performances can be found at www.pressrepublican.com by searching, Lucid. The Press Republican also published a cover story on their much anticipated debut album "Miles Deep." The disc earned top ten album sales at a local record store, Peacock Music, twelve weeks in a row, and reached the number two spot, only to be beaten by Johnny Cash.
Lucid’s sound can be described as a brew of blues, rock, and funk that finds far-reaching appeal over all ages and backgrounds. A wide array of instrumentation gives them the ability to create organic and diverse pieces of music that evokes familiarity while maintaining a fresh approach to classic styles.
