The Lloyd Dobler Effect
The Lloyd Dobler Effect Drawing from the diverse music scene that flows from the streets of Washington D.C., the Lloyd Dobler Effect fuses rock and roll with danceable Latin rhythms and go-go beats to create an intricate new sound that showcases LDE's universal appeal to both mainstream modern rock lovers and culturally diverse audiences. Led by two of the group's founding members, Phil Kominski (guitar and vocals) and Donnie Williams (drums), the Lloyd Dobler Effect was formed in October of 2000 with the addition of percussionist/vocalist Rusty Williams. In 2003, LDE completed their line up with the welcoming of saxophonist/flutist/percussionist Doug Rock and guitarist/vocalist/pianist/madolinist Chris Bruno. It is their belief in the ability of music in all its forms to transcend cultures and bring diverse audiences together that drives the Wheaton, Maryland-based sextet to span genres with all-out, jam-laden rockers. This winning combination has quickly earned them a reputation for enticing audiences everywhere with their party-ready appeal and unforgettable, rousing live performances.

Described by the Washington Post as "ably (and surprisingly) fold[ing] go-go, funk, salsa, folk and hip-hop into modern rock," LDE aims to please by crafting memorable songs that speak to the listener through the music, in addition to the lyrics, a rare find in popular rock and roll these days. LDE is currently in and out of the recording studio recording their first full-length album with Producer Gary Katz (famous for his work with Steely Dan, Joe Cocker, Toto, 2-Pac, Diana Ross and The Dire Straits). In-between studio session, LDE performs throughout and outside of the United States, capturing the attention of the regional music scene.

In 2002, LDE was chosen out of more than 200 area bands to play the Main Stage at the HFStival, a two-day, nationally-acclaimed concert featuring the hottest rock acts in the nation. The band also beat out another 250 acts to win top honors at the Kahunaville Battle of the Bands to open the Boston leg of the Molson Snow Jam, an international skiing/snowboarding tour showcasing national rock, indie, ska, and punk groups throughout Canada and the U.S. In 2004, LDE performed outside of the country for the first time, touring Asia, Diego Garcia and Singapore.

With a strong following in the Mid-Atlantic that has spread throughout New England, the Mid-West and Asia, LDE will continue touring the country this year with its sights set on earning a recording contract with a major music label. With an undeniable sound, memorable songwriting and its off beat sense of humor, the Lloyd Dobler Effect is pushing the boundaries of rock-and-roll with their unique blend of sonic persuasion.
