Leadfoot String Band
Leadfoot String Band Leadfoot String Band is a 5 piece hot-pickin' drivin' bluegrass/jam band from Chicago. The band is made up of mandolin, acoustic guitars, upright bass, banjo and vocals. The music consists of high-energy originals, (vocals w/ harmonies and eclectic instrumentals) as well as their own versions of popular songs and traditional bluegrass tunes. It is an earthy organic acoustic sound that pleases the ear and gets the feet dancing. Simply put, "GOOD MUSIC." In the four short years since their inception, Leadfoot has evolved through numerous lineup changes leading to the super group they are today. Leadfoot performs over a hundred gigs a year, paving the way with a dedicated fan-base that is magnified with every show. Accomplishments such as winning The 2005-2006 Twangoff Band Competition Finals in April and performing to full capacity crowds at Martyrs' (one of Chicago's premier venues), has earned Leadfoot a spot as one of Chicago's most up and coming bands. Siblings Lisa and Mike Vanier, both Berklee School of Music graduates, add a solid rythym and lead guitar and lend their musical sensabilities along with their stunning vocal harmony. Steve Haberichter and Garrett Degnan, both students of Columbia College in Chicago, add the percusive sounds w/ blazing mandolin and steady thumpin' bass. Golden Winker, a long time student of Greg Cahill of The Special Consensus rounds out the band on banjo with his lightning fast finger pickin'. Leadfoot has played all around the Midwest and Chicago playing with such bands as Railroad Earth, Drew Emmitt Band, Darol Anger, Sarah Watkins, Acoustic Hot Tuna, Bill Nershi and Honkeytonk Homeslice from the String Cheese Incident, Hot Buttered Rum, Particle, Split Lip Rayfield, Jeff Austin and Dave Johnson from Yonder Mt. String Band, Vince Welnick Band, Vince Herman from Leftover Salmon, The Special Consensus, and The Iguanas to name a few.
