SIRSY is fronted by the charismatic Melanie Krahmer with a "stunning voice capable
of a lion's roar and a floaty whisper"... a girl "with the lungs of a teenage athlete and
the growl of a sixty-something blues singer". Krahmer is also the band's drummer,
playing a full drum kit STANDING UP, bass parts with her drum stick, and the
occasional Ian Anderson-esque flute solo. Sharing the stage is Krahmer's co-writer,
Rich Libutti, on guitar. Libutti plays bass parts with his feet and even the occasional snare part with his feet
(during Krahmer's flute solos) so the drums don't stop! Despite the multi-tasking going on with this unique set
up, the duo manages to have a "dynamic stage presence and chemistry" that has critics raving. "Though there
are only two musicians on stage, if you close your eyes, you'd swear there were more!" "This is a FULL BAND... A ROCK BAND!"
The Boston Globe says "Little band, BIG sound!" and New York's City's village voice urges readers to "Go see sirsy!"
Playing over 250 shows per year, SIRSY has shared the stage with Maroon5, Lifehouse, Collective Soul, Blues Traveler,
Cheap Trick, Vertical Horizon, Fuel, and more! SIRSY currently tours along the east coast and throughout the Mid-West.
And, YES... this IS their day job.
"LITTLE BAND, BIG SOUND! Somehow these two can EACH play several instruments incredibly well (and at the SAME
TIME) while making it look completely effortless". (----The Boston Globe/ Boston, MA)
"Melanie Krahmer can sing, scream, blow flute, drum, and tease, and she does them all REALLY well. Rich Libutti plays everything
else (he even uses his feet) and together they sound like at least 5 people. If you like live bands that rock, go see sirsy - they
won't let you down." (----The Village Voice/ New York, NY)
"Er... wow. I mean WOW! While their music is radio friendly, and their looks are eye-friendly, the material is actually REALLY good.
Like pop songs used to be before MTV". (----Indie Sounds NY/ New York, NY)
