In 2004, T.U.G.G. played to packed houses filled with familiar faces, and in brand new venues, filled with new fans and new friends. Over 2000 CDs have been moved into the hands of their loyal fanbase. This year has found them playing over 125 shows in 50 cities across 10 states. They have shared the stage with artists like: Lucky Boys Confusion, Slightly Stoopid, Shaking Tree, Cecelia, Entrain, Groovatron, Dazy Head Mazy, Grayson, Agent Zero, Throwback, Unity, Andy Durand, and many others.
Since it’s formation on and around the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse campus in 2002, T.U.G.G. has emerged, from one of the region’s best-kept secrets, into one of its most promising young acts. Mixing elements of rock, reggae, punk, and hip-hop, with an ultra high energy live show, and catchy, real life lyrics, T.U.G.G. leaves audiences’ heads bobbing, feet moving, and fists pumping hours after a performance. On Stage, “They allow their [individual] performances to flow together into a more harmonious whole, demonstrating a rare degree of trust and generosity.”
T.U.G.G. was selected to join other national artists on the grassroots marketing compilation series, Decent Xposure. Their song ‘Some Day’ is featured with music from artists like O.A.R., Ari Hest, Marc Broussard, Michael Tolcher, and others. In addition to local and regional airplay on both college and commercial radio, ‘Some Day’ has maintained regular rotation on the nationally aired Alan Kabel Radio Show as a featured ‘Moment of Greatness’. Out of hundreds of entries, T.U.G.G. was selected as one of thirty bands to compete in the 10,000 Lakes Festival Cosmic Break Contest for a chance at a main stage gig, where they took second place in the online voting portion of the competition. They have also been selected to share the spotlight with bands like the Black Crowes, Everclear, Tom Petty and others as an act at Cadott’s annual Rock Fest. T.U.G.G. also earned a slot via an online voting competition for Farmapalooza, a Wisconsin festival which has featured Umphrey’s McGee and Keller Williams.
The Flow, T.U.G.G.’s debut album was named a 2004 “CD of the Year” award winner on Kweevak Online, an independent radio station. Other award winners include names like: Ekoostik Hookah, Jerry Joseph, Poco, Ten Ton Chicken, and others.
With a rapidly growing, grassroots fan base, T.U.G.G. is looking forward to continuous touring in support of their studio CD: Fill the Tank.
