On Friday and Saturday August 4&5, a plethora of diverse musical acts will come together in the soul of Vermont’s storied Northeast Kingdom for the 4th Annual Northeast Kingdom Music Festival. From the Fela-Kuti inspired Afrobeat of Antibalas, to the Ukrainian Gypsy mayhem of Gogol Bordello, to the Bay Area vibe of J Boogie and Crown City Rockers, to the West African authenticity of Toubab Krewe, the N.E.K. fest lineup is truly inspired by the wide variety of cultural music it brings annually to the rural hinterlands of Vermont. This makes the N.E.K. Music Festival more than just a weekend camping festival with great music, art, poetry and theater. It is truly a unique cultural happening, bringing world diversity through music to a scenic and pastoral setting in the hills of Northern Vermont.

The Northeast Kingdom Music Festival brings this unique globally influenced lineup of over 20 acts on two stages together to inspire movement and an expanding of consciousness. Dancing is universal to cultures world-wide, and the N.E.K. festival lineup invites one to listen and dance to a diverse pallet of sounds from around the world. Only once a year can this be experienced on such a grand scale in the North Country, making the Northeast Kingdom Music Festival an event not to be missed. Many will not have heard of some of the acts on the bill, but no one will leave unimpressed by the incredible array of world-class talent on display…as we like to say “You’ll never know until ya’ go!”

Tickets can be purchased in person at Pure Pop in Burlington, The Langdon Street Café in Montpelier, or The Lake Parker Country Store in West Glover, VT. They can also be purchased online by visiting www.nekmf.com. Buy in person for lowest service fees.

Gates open at 2 PM Friday August 4 with Bread and Puppet Theater kicking things off at 4 PM, and music and other acts continue to the wee hours of Saturday night. Both quiet and up-close camping options are available and kids under 12 are free. Parking, camping and 100% pure deep well water are included in the ticket price. Full festival information can be found at www.nekmf.com

I'm from Vermont too...this thing is the shnizzle - no lunchers, a different lineup from most fests, and absolutely the coolest, kindest scene around - truly no hassle, you can watch the show from your campsite while havin' a cold one IN A BOTTLE (it's byob), and parking is really close by to camping. Best scene I've found at a fest in many years...
highly recommended!
