(San Francisco, CA) -- Blue Bear School of Music presents the 2nd Annual Blue Bear Live – A Youth Music Education Benefit with Stax Legend and 2007 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Recipient Booker T. Jones and others on Saturday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m. at the Great American Music Hall, 859 O'Farrell Street in San Francisco. The event benefits Blue Bear's outstanding youth music education programs. The performers also include special guests Bonnie Hayes, Vicki Randle, Sista Monica, The Jazz Mafia Horns and many more. There will be special Blue Bear Youth performances by The James Lick Middle School Band and the Woodside International School Band. The night will end with a late set by Shantytown. DJ Sterling James will preside as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Tickets are $125 for VIP and $60 general admission and can be purchased at www.bluebearmusic.org and at Blue Bear, 415-673-3600. Silent auction items include autographed guitars from Ben Harper, the late great James Brown, Buddy Guy and many more great music related memorabilia. Benefit sponsors include Safeway, 7x7 Magazine, British Motor Car Distributors, California Closets, JamBase, Swivel Media and Howling Monkey Energy Drink.

Blue Bear School of Music's mission is to provide superior quality and affordable popular music education to aspiring musicians of all ages and skill levels within a supportive and encouraging community. Founded as a nonprofit in 1971, Blue Bear is San Francisco's leading destination for aspiring musicians of all ages and all skill levels who want to enjoy learning and playing rock, popular, folk, blues or jazz music. Through the school's experienced professional faculty and diverse programming, Blue Bear provides a comprehensive music education meeting the needs of students from 6 months old to those well into their seventies and beyond.

Through their participation in private lessons, group classes, after school band workshops, the STAR (School’s That Aspire to Rock) Program, the Music for Youth Summer Camp Program and the newly introduced Little Bears Music Program, youth of all ages, skill levels and economic backgrounds are welcomed into the supportive Blue Bear community.
