Backyard Tire Fire
Backyard Tire Fire is excited to announce the release of their next full length album, Vagabonds and Hooligans, and a tour to follow. The tour will cover most of the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast and include dates with William Elliot Whitmore, Jay Bennett (formerly of Wilco), The Slip, JJ Grey & MOFRO, Will Hoge, The Drams, Death Ships as well stops at Wanee and Wakarusa. Illinois Entertainer recently had this to say about the band:

"Combining elements of alt-country, roots rock, blues, and even a little bit of jazz, Backyard Tire Fire recall the best of Neil Young, Tom Petty, and Creedence Clearwater Revival and make them sound fresh again."

Just like Wilco did with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Backyard Tire Fire is allowing fans to listen to Vagabonds and Hooligans in full here: www.backyardtirefire.com.

say what you will duckswiller but nothing burns as good as a tire. back at the WTO protests in Seattle, i learned that nothing keeps the cops back further one one side of the street than a burning colum of tires in the street. remember how on the simpsons when homer was cooking some meat atop his chimney and asked bart to throw in some "mesquite" which was really a tire.

BYTF aren't even out of Chicago are they? Im pretty sure they are from Bloomington Illinois, but who cares---they are good. They are not really a jam band, but i agree with greengrass--they have what it takes. I also agree that Cornmeal is a must see. I can't help but to mention Family Groove Company as one of the Chicago elite and yes, Umphreys is the biggest jamband to ever come out of the midwest- although their groupies are f-ing annoying. Representin' Go Bears

Groovatron and Mr. Blotto are two other pretty kickass bands from the midwest\Chicagoland area. BTF is solid, they write great rock n' roll tunes, worth seeing for sure.

Do yourself a favor, check these guys out. They are from Bloomington, but Chicago ssems to take credit for anything in Illinois, either way these guys kick some serious ass. Being from Chicago, had the chance to see em a bunch of times, always impressed. Great guys too, very down to earth.

DA BEARS! remember on saturday night live on the superfans when chris farley would always have the heart attacks. his character's name was todd. he would always hack up whole pork chops and what about the time when the superfans were all in the hospital and had the barbacue sauce i.v.'s. and the doctor was showing an x-ray of the heart and the one dudes had a fried egg on it. good shit.

they sound a lot like wilco and uncle tupelo, but i've only listened to about 7 songs...did i just stumble on songs that sound like them, or do they branch out a bit on their sound?

check out some of the shows on archive.org, they definitely show their influences, but i think they play some very diverse sets.
