Chairman of the Boards
We're excited to announce that Legacy Recordings will release Page McConnell, the much anticipated debut solo album from the keyboardist/songwriter, on April 17.

Page composed nine new pieces for this, his first solo album, which introduces fascinating new musical facets and lyrical concerns from an ever-evolving artist. Page McConnell combines the signature heartfelt vocals, memorable musical hooks, and complex animated improvisations that made his contributions to Phish so vital.

McConnell says of the album, "I started working on it about two years ago, not with an end goal in mind, but for the joy of the process. As the project evolved, I realized the songs held together as a body of work with some recurring themes, especially that of new beginnings. The last few years have been a time of great personal and professional transition, and I think that's reflected in the album."

Page worked closely throughout with engineer and co-producer Jared Slomoff, drummer Jon Fishman and guitarist Adam Zimmon. Mike Gordon and Trey Anastasio also make significant contributions. The album also features legendary drummer Jim Keltner (John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones) about whom Page says, "He's great -- the real deal. As soon as he walked in the studio we started tracking. Of course I was aware of his musicianship from the studio work he's done, but what I realized playing with him was just how far he could stretch things out. He was inspired, and inspiring to me."

Page McConnell was recorded in Vermont and Brooklyn between January 2005 and June 2006 and was mixed by Bryce Goggin, who first worked with Page in 1999 as producer on Phish's Farmhouse. Stay tuned to Phish.com and PageMcConnell.com for more information as we get closer to the album's release date.

Page McConnell Tracklisting
1. "Beauty Of A Broken Heart"
2. "Heavy Rotation"
3. "Maid Marian"
4. "Close To Home"
5. "Runaway Bride"
6. "Back In The Basement"
7. "Rules I Don't Know"
8. "The Complex Wind"

Right on! With all due respect, I hope it is better than Trey's last couple of efforts. It will be interesting nonetheless. As much as I love Trey, I have not enjoyed his albums much. The live shows have been great, however. Rock on, Page! I wish you all the best, and I will likely buy the album.

I, for one, really enjoyed his Vida Blue project a lot. Caught them up at UVM one year with Project Logic. It was really good. His collaborations with the Spam-Allstars are also really sick. This album hopefully contains a lot of great new material from the chairman of the boards. Looking forward to it. Nice YouTube promo embedded on the new site....like it.

I've wanted a solo page album for a long time...even while Phish was still playing I thought an album of acoustic page on piano ( squirming coil style) would be excellent! This may not be that exact project but I'm excited for it nonetheless

Well, yea I too, a long time phan, will certainly will anticipate this release. Took in a few Vida Blue shows, many Mike Gordon projects, - whom I think has been the most productive, and creative, and shall I say...Talented of all the side projects. Though, that said now, I've only taken in 1 EO project with Fish, what was his other(s) side project ... Pink something or other...

But back to Page. I'll look forward to hearing what he did in the studio, but will also be weary. I got to disagree with Cooper77 about his set at MOE.DOWN 7. And I wrote about it as well, right here on this site ... You're welcome Read my review of Page's set - with Fish on drums, and Gordo's Ramble Dove set.

The music was jazzy and improvisational, certainly jammy and moving. But honestly, his singing, which I always thought the weakness of Phish shows, was awful. That may be just my opinion, and I don’t mean to be bashing Page here, but I just want to voice my …. Weariness. Despite, I’d still also welcome another tour and a chance for him to disprove me doubts.

If anybody's interested in checking out Jim Keltner, the phenom drummer that Page is lauding, I really like his playing on Bill Frisell's Gone, Just Like a Train. He's a legend.

This is cool to see page and Keltner on a project. Hope it is excellent.

my vote for post phish solo project MVP = Vida Blue's first album! it blows me away! its as good as phish's best work and better than some of it all together. at the time it came out i wondered why page would do phish at all when he could play with oteil...in this group... and the material...the Gleason>Farley reference is beyond songwriting to me! I also heard a Vida Blue/Spam Allstars bootleg one time and it was also sick as a motherfucker! I hope Page finds time to come play some tours with Vida Blue and/or any other projects soon! where you been, page?

Further convincing me that Phish will eventually get back together within the next few years at most. It will be one of the most marketed musical effots of all time. Makes sense to me.
