"Recently added press obligations"???? What the f-bomb does that mean???? I don't understand why bands can't be more stright foward with their fans. I would be pissed if I was going to any of these shows. Pgroove better tear the roof of these places when they get there...

This sucks...give me a break, press obligations? These guys should fire their manager/management team or whatever, because they continue to display "small-time, college-band" tactics that disappoint their fans. Panic NEVER pulled this crap when they were "goin' ou west" in the early days when they were an equally up-and-coming band from Georgia.

While I really dig these guys and the music they play, they don't seem to have a lot of respect for their west coast fanbase, which I expect will probably dwindle even more since their trip out here in 2006. Last FEB, they screwed over the fans who came to see them at TKF in Los Angeles, leaving San Diego in the middle of rush hour before a three day weekend, getting into a "fender-bender" that delayed them even more, and then went on around midnight for an announced set time of 10pm. They played until 1:30am. They spent about an hour setting up before going on. I'm sick of their excuses, I hear enugh excuses at home and on the job. If they don't come back out here and rock out every venue and for every fan they've disrespected, including a High Sierra Music Festival appearance, then they will continue to be small time peaches from Georgia.

word, trusmoka...but it's too late. I already bitched. I haven't played in a touring band, but I do know that even in everyday life, you can't please everybody. I like their music enough to cut them some slack and throw my money down when they come back around...but a lot of this stuff is completely avoidable with good planning and proper management. "Failing to plan is planning to fail."

You don't 'plan' for an accident in LA and I believe it was more than just a fender bender, which is why they were late. As shaken up as they were, THEY STILL PLAYED AND ROCKED IT. As much as their management can plan, Shit happens. I'm dissapointed I won't see these guys in February as planned, but I just bet you (FRAZIER) they are gonna come through with something even BETTER for the left coast. I agree with u jamcam wholeheartedly!!

Yes, this is a bummer for you guys out west, but have some faith. These guys bust their ass everyday, moreso than most bands in the circuit. They love the west coast more than any of you think. Most of their new material that's not on the new album, was written out west. Things happen and being an up and coming band, you have to give in to the powers that be. With this being their first release with Tree Sound's new label, I'm sure that alot of press obligations are coming from the Atlanta and surrounding ares. Trust me...I'm sure that they would rather be out west throwin down than going through interviews and photo shoots or whatever these obligations are. But rest asure that when they return out west...you'll be blown away.

I would definitely be disapointed as well if my up-comming P-Groove show was canceled. But, I would not be mad or upset. I know these guys and jamcamdvd is absolutely right they are some of the nicest and down to earth guys on the circuit (and thier core fan-base reflects that). I've been seeing P-Groove since college back then they would play a free show at a an Irish Pub in Tallahassee every Wednesday night. The place didn't even have a stage and few people showed up each week but yet they played their hearts out every time. They've come a long way since then and I look forward to seeing them grow even more. Therefore anything that is geared toward expanding their carreer is fine with me.

Since JamBase hasn't put it up on the news section yet, Widespread Panic announced the details of their Spring 07 tour on Thursday. Check their website if you want the details. It sure is a good thing that JamBase didn't put that up in the news section, not even 2 days after the news was announced.

PGROOVE, their management team, their crew, and their fans are some of the best people i have ever had the privilege of knowing. everything this band does is thought of with their fans in mind. they are some of the greatest musicians out there. i can not wait for the new album to come out...i highly suggest getting it because it will blow you away, i'm sure!!!
THANK YOU to everyone in the pgroove community for everything! sit tight west coast...WHEN they do come out there, it will be worth the wait. i did the whole west coast run in 2006 and man, they played some GREAT shows out there...i have no idea what anyone has to complain about.
these boys sell out venues in the southeast for 2 night runs and have played everything from bonnaroo, wakarusa, jam cruise to high sierra! why not get out and travel to the southeast sometime? its a beautiful place! =)
I highly anticipate the release of LIVELOVEDIE and hope you guys enjoy the album!!!

Like maybe, we cant afford to go to the west because we spend all our money making of stories with expensive PR compnaies of how we are so good...what label are these guys on anyway? All right now kiddies, allow me to lay some things down:

1. I also did the entire west coast run this year, went through 22 states in 18 days.

2. "If they don't come back out here and rock out every venue and for every fan they've disrespected,"- Frazier;
They ripped every one of the venues they played, and considering the fact that I never met anyone of you west coast gripers, it doesn't seem that you go to the show when they do play there.

3. So in conclusion: Find some other negative news and create a thread about how "thats wrong man, you just don't do that"

4. I really know and love these guys, and they reach out to their fanbase in ways that not many bands do, it's not all about the music for me with these guys or the family that I've met through the scene

Its not always about waiting for things to come to you, go out and get it, can't travel to a show- yes you can

jturner, you obviously haven't been to a Bisco show recently, so until then you should keep yo mouf' shut. The Disco Biscuits have much more talent than anyone will ever give them credit for. I'd like to see Pgroove try to do tDB style setlist segues with inversions, unfinished songs, middle inverted songs, finishing songs the next night, and just the way they seamlessly can build transitions from song to song.

I appreciate all of the feedback on my comments and on this story in general. Y'all had some really valid points and none of you were mean about it. It's good to hear different perspectives expressed and outlined. We ALL have a right to our opinions. I don't think anyone should be shot for being pissed off about PGroove ditching the last leg of their west coast run, it sucks, it shouldn't have happened, could have easily been avoided, etc.

That being said, I am not surprised and maybe am even a little inspired to see so many fans of PGroove sticking up for the band against these negative comments. Shit happens, people have a right to be pissed about it happening, and others have a right to explain or defend why it happens. Ask the San Diego Chargers. We're all a little sensitive when it comes to people ripping our favorite music and musicians, just look at the Disco Biscuits comment and response. I thought that was a funny line, and some one jumped on it to defend the almighty Biscuits from a nasty slur. Righteous.

Compared to their sets at HSMF in 2005, the PGroove show at TKF in Feb 2006 was a letdown. If any of you saw those shows, and/or the ones in SF afterward or SD before you'd probably agree, unless you were some uberfan who went on the entire west coast run through 22 states in 18 days. You can't "kick ass every show." Ask Jerry Garcia. Or Brock Butler for that matter.

I am not the kind of person who's going to see a full west coast run of any band...from ALO to WSP, no matter, I am a working man and between Vegoose, HSMF, Joshua Tree, ACL, Jazzfest and all of the shows I travel to see in CA and elsewhere, that's not my thing anymore. I'm 32, it SHOULDN'T be my thing anymore. My level of music appreciation is not measured on how many shows I travel to see or how many new "friends" I meet at a show. However, a band's professionalism can be measured in many ways, and this sorry news announcement doesn't really help PGroove to measure up. Still, I wish them the best of luck with the new CD's release and I hope they do kick ass at the shows they actually play on this tour. I'd be at Langerado if it weren't for a small matter of my Honeymoon in Cabo in early March. Cosidering the strength of that sick ass Langerado lineup, due in part to Perpetual Groove, I'd be jealous of anyone who is going.

Word...let there be peace throughout the land!

Sounds like they need a new agent.

After Denver, 3 days off, then 4 days of work then 3 nights off and then 2 on with the tour ending on a Thursday night.

So they were only working 6 out of 12 days. It's no wonder the band couldn't afford to go do those dates. They would probably spend more on hotels, meals and gas then they stood to make on the entire tour.

Triggin, YOU need to get a clue more than anyone out here needs to get a life. This is a MUSIC site with an active COMMENTS board. This type of discussion and exchange of thoughts (positive or negative) is what this portion of the website is all about. This particular discussion is not about Bush and/or Iraq or politics in general, and I'm pretty sure there aren't many discussions on this site that cover that subject matter. So PLEASE do not try to be righteous in diverting this conversation to a completely unrelated topic only to prove a half-assed point. The timing WAS right for PGroove to play some shows on the west coast, they and/or their label, or their "management" just decided, for whatever reason, to cancel the shows. That's negative news, and it's music related...so, what do you know? Negativity and music do go hand in hand sometimes! Just ask Damien Rice.

This was posted by Ben(pgroove's manager) on Talking in place and if you call him unprofessional you are A. Stupid and B. have no idea what the hell your talking about

I'm sure they will back out there sooner than later also....

Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion, and you can't please all the people all the time - both of those are great quotes for a reason - they're both true.

We just firmed up the release date before the end of last year - literally, right before the NYE run. The tour was laid four-five months ago. Adjustments had to be made to the schedule to make time for press opportunities that came about after the release was announced. Some of those obligations require the band and or members of the band to be available in person.

While I don't think it's fair to compare the value of a live show to the value of promoting an album - promoting this next record is extremely important, even if it means cancelling some of the shows we had initially booked. This album has been nearly a year in the making and no one, absolutely no one here affiliated with Perpetual Groove wants anything less then our best effort in getting the word out. Regarding the professionalism of cancelling the shows - an announcement was made as soon as we knew we had conflicts with the schedule. The band is not breaking up. No one is in re-hab. No one has died. I'm not sure that you can get more professional then telling the truth.

There are obviously some fans that are disappointed shows had to be cancelled, and for that we are truly sorry. However, if decisions like this were not made, some great opportunities for the band would be missed out on and that would be unprofessional. We make most of our decisions with the best interest of our fans in mind, it is after all the reason why we are here. But every once in awhile, decisions need to be made that benefit the band and/or their career - with that being said, we just ask for your understanding and patience in dealing with scheduling changes.

Thanks for your support!

I really don't think it's fair to act like this reflects on the band. They are releasing an album, and have obligations that have arisen accordingly that have emerged after they made plans for the tour. They are not cancelling the tour, nor are they refusing to go out west. The tour is simply postponed. They gave notice over a month in advance. That is plenty of time for any plans to be changed and refunds to be gotten. Inconvenient? Yes. Frustrating for all you fans out west? Definitely. But does this reflect on the character of the band? Absolutely not.

I have had several personal interactions with the band, and they are great guys. They aren't just professional; they are personal, real guys that really care about their fan base and go out of their way to engender a sense of community.

Much love to the band and to all the music lovers that frequent this site. I totally understand being bummed that your show got moved back, but don't let that influence your opinion of their character.

All I can say is that's the way it goes. I am always thankful when anything happens. I had these guys here back in 2003 and it was great. I hope they can make it out sometime in the future.
