Gregg Allman at The Beacon
By Kim Panzitta
The Allman Brothers Band have confirmed 13 shows for their annual string of dates at New York City’s Beacon Theatre and are unveiling tour plans for 2007. Every March, the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees perform a string of sold out shows at the 2900-seat Beacon, which have become must-see concerts for fans across the country and elsewhere. This tradition began in 1989 and they’ve performed at the Beacon over 165 times, with the group releasing the live platinum-selling DVD Live At The Beacon Theatre in 2004. Tickets for the Beacon shows--which run from March 22 through April 7--will go on sale Saturday, January 6 at 9:00 AM Eastern.

There are also plans to make each show available to fans live via a high-definition multi-camera stereo webcast. Although still in the planning stages, the goal is to offer subscribers video and audio of all the shows, as well as access to web-cams set up in various venues throughout the country.

The group, Gregg Allman (vocals and keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums and tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas and percussion) are also lining up its 2007 tour schedule, which will include the third annual two-day Wanee Festival that they host in Live Oak, Florida (April 13 & 14). The line-up announcement and festival pre-sale will happen in January.

Currently, the Allman Brothers Band are only planning one extended period of tour dates for the year, with 25 shows tentatively scheduled for August and early September.

I never missed a brothers show in Atlanta until 2004 when they started playing with lynyrd skynyrd. Please please please play the south again without that racist crappy band and their throngs of confederate flag-draped, alcoholic redneck morons. Derek Trucks 4 President!

Clapton sucks fellas, save your money. I hope his cheesiness doesn't rub off on Derek. I'm sure it won't.

Derek, Eric and the Beacon

Yesterday we reported on the Allman Brothers Band 2007 Beacon Theater run. Since the dates fall during a leg of the Eric Clapton North America tour and Derek Trucks has been gigging with that band, a number of our readers sent us emails inquiring who would join Warren Haynes on guitar for these shows (a question we raised ourselves a number of weeks ago). Given the music coming off the stage at the Beacon in 2006, we are happy to report that Trucks will be back with the ABB for its spring run. As for future commitments, at present, neither Clapton nor the Brothers have confirmed any dates beyond April of this year.

why couldnt jambase have this much info on it jambands is outdoing them

I love these guys like they were my own brothers, and the Derek/Warren combo is a smoker. But please. Dickey? Please? I don't know what the bad feelings/disagreements are but he's a founding member, a fantastic guitarist and the author of many of their greatest songs (which they no longer play). I say lay the egos down and play together while everyone still can. There'll be plenty of time for squabbling in the nursing home when the music's over.

Actually they don't perform most Dickey penned songs that Dickey also sang like: Seven Turns, Back Where It All Begins, Change My Way of Living, Blue Sky(although they did it a few times in late 2004 with Gregg on lead vocals), Nobody Knows(which Gregg and Dickey have both sang lead on at different times), Back Where It All Begins, and their biggest hit ever Ramblin' Man.

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Jessica, Revival(which Gregg sings lead vocals on) are still regularly performed.

I agree. CAN Haynes and ADD Dickey Betts back. Doubtful that it will happen though.

Derek Trucks last performance with Eric Clapton is March 18.

From there I imagine he will fly over to NYC from CA and have three full days of rehearsals with the band before the run starts.

Way down on the Suwanee River! Can't wait for Wanee Fest, my personal fav. I too would love to see Dickey back, or at least play some of his old songs. The band is really clicking right now though, no need to bring in bad vibes. Wanee needs to hurry up and anounce the bands, i'm getting really anxious. I hope Jack Pearson comes back and sits in with the Brothers, that man is bad!

CAN Warren? ADD Dickey???? obviously you dont know the power of Warren "the robot" Haynes or your just a country boy.
i cant belive that all these shows will sell out considering the tickets go for $50-$100 a pop. should be a great time though.

I too would enjoy a Jack Pearson appearance, he is a musical madman. The summer 1997 to Beacon 1999 shows were the greatest ABB musically since March 1969 - October 1971. He plays rhythm, lead, slide(which he performs in multiple open tunings), composes songs, sings, produces. He plays multiple instruments(guitar, bass guitar, Hammond B-3, and mandolin just to name a few) and writes or has co-written EVERY single song on all three of his solo albums. And he does all of this very well!

I also have to say that I hope very much that Derek Trucks does not sign on with Eric Clapton for anymore tours, EVER. I am so glad to read that the ABB are only planning on performing about 25 shows total for their summer tour. Derek needs to push his band to public more so than in the past, it has been neglected.

Believe it - the weekend shows will be completely sold out and the weekday shows will be almost if not completely full houses.

Need to eat your Wheaties before these shows - the ABB always bring it hard, be it the Beacon or elsewhere. Go and enjoy.

Don't Go to the Wannee! Seriously It is one of the most beautiful Venues I have been too when the weather is right, But the land is owned by the sheriff's dept. and they are STRICT! ZERO tolerence in florida is no joke. $4500 1yr 1/2 probation. sucks ass for alittle cap left over from the night before. You can't burn one at the stages either. Not that, that is all i go to shows for but watch out for that place. They put you straight into general population. IT SUCKS!!

i have to disagree with you there markg. i went to 06 and 05. didn't really much of the law in 05, last year was a bit different. some of my buds did have a run in with some undercover DEA guys inside the gates, but i mean they tried to pass a piece to a frickin' federal agent, duh! that thing will happen to you, you know if you play with fire, you'll get burned. but they were crawling all over the place. out in the campground area i've one cop, the same cop, both years. some fat sheriff deputy who just rode up on down the road every hour or so and didn't give a damn as to what was going on. so i will have to disagree with ya, and say Wanee is one of the more laid back festies as far as law enforcement goes, but you are right about the beauty of the Suwanee Music Park, just plain beautiful.

Just read another article this one with Gregg from 1/9 he says:

"We're sort of on hiatus. We have a lot of people who have their own bands, including myself. They want to go and spend some time with those bands. Some of them are leaders, some of them are in different parts in different bands. Derek (Trucks) has his own band. Oteil (Burbridge, bass) has his own band," Allman said.

This is even more encouraging for dTb. Hopefully ARU will get some more touring in as well.

Oteil Burbridge from the Allmans will be at Lion's Den tonight. Then...Devon Allman's Honeytribe is doing a Monday March 26th Post-Allman Bros. show too...at Lion's Den.
The Allman Family is invading New York.

Beacon is the only reason I ever want to go to NYC. But seriously, I don't think there's a snowball's (or should I say eight-ball's) chance in hell that Dickey will rejoin with the Allmans. It would be the end of Gregg for sure, he can't handle the temptation. The music would be NASTY NASTY NASTY though. I heard someone describe the dynamic of the ABB (post Duane of course) as Dickey being the heart and Gregg being the SOUL.

i ran into some cops at wanee last year. they came up on me smoking and politely asked me not to make them do their jobs. wanee is great, every fan of the ABB family should experience it
