As we near the end of another year, we at Terrapin are busy planning for the next. Though The Gathering of the Vibes is only one weekend each year, the preparations run 'round the calendar as we pull a million details together so everything is just right when we all come together in the summer.
We are thrilled to finally and formally announce that the next Gathering of the Vibes will take place at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, CT on August 9-12, 2007. As many of you know, this is familiar turf for us: two truly momentous Gatherings were held at the park in 1999 and 2000. Now, after five wonderful years as grateful guests of the Potter family and Indian Lookout Country Club, we look forward to this return to our roots.
Following the 2000 event, Seaside Park began a major renovation. Thus we are returning to an even more spectacular setting next summer with newly reseeded fields, a refurbished 'Casino' building, and many more infrastructure improvements. The park has never looked so fine, and legendary showman PT Barnum, who donated the space to the city of Bridgeport in 1875, would be proud. We think he would be equally impressed with the lively, fun-filled, colorful event we joyfully conspire to host there.
One big change over the 1999-2000 Gatherings at Seaside Park is a feature we've all come to love in recent years: YES, there will be car-side camping! Along with flush toilets, showers, playgrounds, a skate park, and over a mile of pristine beach within a short walk, this is shaping up to be the ideal space for our annual 'family reunion.' We look forward to seeing you there - it truly wouldn't be the same without you!
