Son Volt Returns in March with New Album & Tour

Jay Farrar
Son Volt's The Search is set for release on March 6, 2007, on Transmit Sound/Legacy. A national tour will begin that same month.

According to the record label, "The Search is a startlingly powerful and inspiring departure from the band's alt-country laden records, employing an exceptional variety of sounds, melodies, and arrangements."

In a recent press release, bandleader Jay Farrar said, "Instrumentally, the electric guitar was the focus of the last record Okemah, but for The Search we wanted to try something new. This time, we utilized different instrumentation to fit each song -- from guitar pedal loops to various keyboard sounds to horns."

The Band:
Jay Farrar (vocal, guitar, piano), Dave Bryson (drums), Derry DeBorja (keyboards), Andrew Duplantis (bass, backing vocals) and Brad Rice (guitar).

The Tracklisting:
1. Slow Hearse
2. The Picture
3. Action
4. Underground Dream
5. Circadian Rhythm
6. Beacon Soul
7. The Search
8. Adrenaline and Heresy
9. Satellite
10. Automatic Society
11. Methamphetamine
12. L Train
13. Highways and Cigarettes
14. Phosphate Skin

Spot on Bill Clifford. Jam fans, don't be scared by straight ahead rock and roll. Lastly, if you like Neil Young chances are pretty good you will like Son Volt and Jay Farrar. Keep on coming!!!

calling this band son volt is like calling mike jagger solo the rolling stones. this is not really son volt. it's jay farrar milking the name. i love jay, but it's a joke to call this thing what it isn't.

New Son Volt record sounds great. But Dicky79 is clueless. No comparison to the Stones/Jagger solo. Jay Farrar is, was and will always be Son Volt. He's milking nothing, except his own great talent.
