Gov't Mule rocked the historic Tampa Theatre in Florida on November 5th, 2006, with a thunderous show promoting their new release, High & Mighty.
An hour-long opening set by Donavon Frankenreiter encompassed songs from his second album, Move By Yourself (released June 2006), including the title track, "Fool," "Let It Go," "All Around Us," and "The Way It Is." Other impressive selections included several from 2004's self-titled effort, including "What'cha Know About," "Free," "Swing On Down," and "It Don't Matter." The sweet but short set ended with an addictive jam that left the crowd cheering for more.

The theater continued to fill after Donavon's fans fled the front of the stage leaving room for Mule's more intense crowd to prepare for the rock show. After a short break, Warren Haynes took the stage with fellow band mates Matt Abts, Danny Louis and Andy Hess. After a Mule oldie "Blind Man In The Dark" (from 2003's Deepest End) to start the set, the title cut of the new CD "Mr. High & Mighty" was played to great reception.
With the 1500 person theatre not quite full to capacity the set progressed with "Bad Little Doggie" before two tunes from 2004's Deja Voodoo, "Bad Man Walking" and "Slackjaw Jezebel." The band wailed through fan favorite "Thorazine Shuffle" before Warren changed over to a twelve-string for another tune from High & Mighty, "So Weak, So Strong." "Banks Of The Deep End" was rollicking as they finished off the first set with an intense rendition of "Soulshine" with the entire crowd singing along.
Mule's second set blasted off with "Beautifully Broken," which led to the old standard "32/20 Blues" and "Brighter Days." A very surprising "Mountain Jam" was wrapped in between Deepest End's "Gameface" and finished with an extended drum solo. The new release was once again featured with "Nothing New," and "Brand New Angel."

Suddenly, the band stunned the crowd as Warren emulated Hendrix's staccato riffs and they did a first-time cover of "Machine Gun." After about thirteen minutes of guitar bliss, they wound their way to finish out the set with a huge version of "Mule."
The only encore, Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower," included Donavon and Eric Brigmond (from Donavan's band). As the audience screamed for more, refusing to leave the beautiful theater, the stage stayed empty and the lights came on signaling the end of yet another blues-soaked night of guitar rock with Gov't Mule.
