Lady Sovereign Breaks Down in L.A.
 Lady Sovereign |
Last night (11/16), pint-sized female rapper Lady Sovereign was scheduled to play a gig at Los Angeles' El Rey Theater in support of her new album, Public Warning (check JamBase's review here).
But things didn't go as planned. Apparently Sov was battling a nasty chest infection and was told by her doctor to cancel the show and rest. Sov, being the feisty lil' wordsmith she is, decided she could push on. She was wrong. From the minute she hit the stage it was clear she was not up to the task. She struggled, cried and spat her way through two songs before completely breaking down and falling to the ground. She was helped off the stage and never came back.
Today, Lady Sovereign released the following statement: "I hated disappointing everybody. The pain and frustration hurt so much, it was scary."
To make up for the show, Sov will re-schedule another Los Angeles performance in December, following the end of her tour. The date will be announced next week.
As of now, Lady Sovereign will not miss any of the rest of the shows on her tour, as she has two days to rest up before the next one, which will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday.
