DEAD MEADOW TOUR

Dead Meadow
Before setting out on recording their follow up to 2005's FEATHERS, Dead Meadow is hitting the road this November.

"This could be the crossover that bridges the gap between metalheads and indie/emo kids, with plenty of Sabbath-esque '70s rawk to make the doom- and stoner-rock fans go absolutely nutso but also amazing songwriting that lends itself to lighting a few candles or watching the stars as the music flows over you. Amazing stuff." -DIW Magazine

Dead Meadow play an unusual blend of flawless Hendrix/Sabbath riffage, dreamy psych, heavy undulating rhythms, dirty blues-rock, and environmental jams, with eerie high-pitched vocals. Miles beyond "stoner rock" gimmickry, this is a beautifully natural sound, played by expert instinctive musicians.

Dead Meadow met in the DC punk/indie scene, though their music draws from more faraway sources. The band formed in the fall of 1998 from the ashes of local bands The Impossible Five and Colour, when singer-guitarist Jason Simon, bassist Steve Kille, and drummer Mark Laughlin set out to fuse their love of early 70's hard rock and 60's psychedelia with their love of writers J.R.R. Tolkien and H.P. Lovecraft.

bands like these guys, wolfmother, jet, silversun pickups, the living end ect...... need to stop! right away. trying to revive the 70's rock sound is not needed.

I like Wolfmother. I like rock and roll. You can always NOT listen if it is painful to your ears. Plus, what is wrong with 70's sound?

hey mumia,
while i mostly agree with your commets and while i can but won't chanllenge your opinion on wolfmother, silversun pickups and dead meadow are not 70's revive bands. both are great and have a distinct sound cut from an edgy pschedelic cloth. as for jet, they suck rhino ass.

i've honestly only heard one silversun pickups song, so i should have left them out of my post.
this is how a conversation at work went today as i visited dead meadows web site.

me: "these guy's aren't that great"
my boss: "why are listening to all their songs then"
me: "i just want to make sure"

there's nothing wrong with the 70's sound, i love sabbath and so on. i also love rock and roll. i just think bands need to be more inovative when it comes to making rock music. queens of the stone age and the mars volta are perfect examples of displaying the qualitys of 70's rock and pschedelic music while still being inventive.

I've seen them and they are nothing like Jet. Jet to me is a cheesey version of the 70's rock revival. And Silversun Pickups don't fall in any of those catergories, they're too poppy to be compared to Sabbath.

I don't think Silver Sun Pickups sound like any of the other bands you guys were talking about. They have a more grunge sound to them. And Jet, I don't like them much at all either Ciffy.Wolfmother has more of a "Sabbath" sound to them. I think Dead Meadow are awesome and really want to see them. If you haven't heard The Warlocks yet check them out, you can stream a bunch of songs from their website.
