BENEFIT SHOW FOR S.D. FAN

Jean Casey
On Saturday, October 28th, our beautiful and dear friend Jean set out for Vegoose to enjoy an annual Halloween celebration of music, dancing, and great friends. This was going to be the fifth Halloween celebration that Jean had spent traveling and seeing music. Unfortunately, just outside of Las Vegas, the vehicle that Jean was riding in was involved in a serious accident. Jean was in the backseat and was not wearing a seatbelt (please wear yours). She was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries to her skull, neck, back, and arm. Although this was devastating, Jeanie is alive and improving daily. She will make a full recovery, however it will be a long and difficult one. She is a strong and feisty woman and there is no doubt that she will be dancing around with all us in no time. How lucky she is, to be surrounded with so many smiling and supportive friends and family that will be with her each step of her recovery.

Jean is self employed and does not have any medical insurance, nor will she be able to work for quite some time. Not only will she have extreme medical bills, she will also be faced with rehabilitation costs, as well as the costs of daily living. We want to help alleviate some of this burden. We will be holding a musical fundraising event with a silent auction on November 25th. Donations may also be made at www.welovejeancasey.com and will be placed directly in an account that can be accessed only by Jean and her mom, Joyce. Between the many communities of people that Jean is involved with through the music scene, Burning Man, the beach community, her childhood friends, and her wonderful family, I know we can creatively lessen some of the financial hardship.

Please keep Jean in your thoughts and prayers. Send her love and positive energy endlessly. Never alone, always together, I know we can help support our lovely Jeanie financially, mentally, and spiritually. Please visit www.welovejeancasey.com for up to date information on the benefit show.

Show specifics:
Where: Portugalia Restaurant in San Diego - Ocean Beach, CA 92107
When: Noon-7pm
Who: Shoestring Strap, Delta Nove, Chi Club, Blackbirdz
How Much: $10 Suggested Donation
Why: Because we Like You!....and Because Jean could really use your help!

Let's not get distracted by Formula Box trying to use this tragedy to further his own politics (kind of how Bush did with 9/11!). The importance of the real issue screams out above his buzz anyway.

This woman, Jean Casey, deserves every word of praise, every kind thought, and every helping hand that reaches out to her. So rarely do you meet a person with such pure intention, such a kind heart, and such a wise mind. She is special, and she is in need right now. This is a chance for us to come together to help a woman that deserves everything we have to give because she always gave everything she had to give.

Jean is one of the ones where you are left wondering why bad things happen to such good people. She's one of the souls that you can't imagine suffering because she brought so much joy and positive energy to others.

Please help in whatever way you can. Ask local shops to donate gift certificates and items to auction. Tell the people at your church about her need. For those of you that have connections to favorite jamband members, try to get some stuff signed that we can auction off as well.

Most of all, think good thoughts, see her happy, whole, laughing, dancing, and loving life again.

"We will survive" as long as we work together and help each other out.

By the way i work in the medical field.I know it may sound ignorant, stupid, xenophobic but if there isn't any truth in the statement i apologize. But why should i apologize for something that is true.ITS THE TRUTH.I hope everyone voted yesterday, maybe we will get our country back sometime...As far as Jean goes like I said we will be sending money her way.For all you disagree(ers) when is the last time you have looked at your health care plan?Enough said.

ok pauly , it seems that formula Obnoxious Bastard Xenophobe feels that if this poor girl was a latino that she would get free medical care. formula says that he/she works in the medical field ... wonderful bedside manner i am sure.... hope i never end up in your care...anyhow its nice to see people reaching out like this , it really is a shame that EVERY story on jambase deteriorates into bickering ... BUT i love to debate so i cant resist responding .... get well jean , vatos rule!

I just was directed to this website by a friend of my sisters and I must say I am amazed! The outpouring of love and goodwill that has been shown for Jean has deeply moved not only myself but our family as well. I just returned from Las Vegas where we spent some time together and her condition continues to improve daily!! I know that I can speak for her when I say a huge thank you to every one out there who has found it in thier heart to come forward and contribute to her cause. I will be at her benefit, hopefully with her in tow, and look forward to meeting as many of you as possible so I can express my gratitude in person.

Before we lose sight of whats matters...the health of Jean, I think it is important to point out that Jean was doing something that we all do pretty much every weekend...travel to listen to the sounds that make us smile. I lost a very close friend on Panic tour while he was driving from Colorado to New Mexico. He as well was not wearing a seat belt. What I am trying to say is that Jean was doing something that we all love to do...travel to see music. When we do this now, take a minute to yourself at a show and remember how lucky we are. The show may suck...but you know what I will always be glad that I am there, and will always think of those that can no longer travel with us. Tons of love and music to you all. Get well Jean, we can never have too many red Hot Mama's dancin there butts off.

Healing vibes are being sent Jean's way from the flatlands of Iowa! Unfortunatly, won't be able to make the benefit show due to distance - but i'll be there in spirit! I'll also be contributing to the fund as soon as I can.

FormulaBox. I have been on this site evryday for the past 5 years. That is not an exageration Check my band out (7th direction), it keeps me busy and in the mix of the music scene.

This the first time I've ever posted twice on a story. I rarely comment at all and try to be positive when I do.

For a living I provide Psychotherapy to Native American Clients through several Bay Area organiziations. I also teach Gradute School classes in Intercultural Awarness and Racism.

The reason people are reacting harshly to your comment F.B. is not because they debate your point is right or wrong. I agree that we have some nationalk problems with our healthcare system. I in fact only get half coverage even though I hold three jobs. Many people get nothing and are screwed. This is true.

The first comment you made to me felt hateful, small minded and in the direction of Hitler's kind of propaganda and dogma. This is not a hatesite. In your follow up posting you wrote things that make me think you are not a stupid person. To me stupdity is the only rational reason for racism. Please think bout what you said and where you said it. I will pray for you. I'll pray that you and your whole family always have coverage. I really hope you can see that jambase is a very innapropriate website for racist statements. I respect that they posted your feelingts despite the disgusting and negative nature which had nothing to do with music. I hope they don't leave me out for the excessive length, but I spend most everyday attempting to bring healing to victims of racism and I don't want this precious website to be a forum for further abuse to people who deal with it constantly. Ignorance is treatable through open mindedness and education but racism and stupidity can last a lifetime. Maybe you are only ignorant Formula.

One love

There's sweet, light, healing energy pulsing toward Jean from the north, from the south, from sea to shining sea. With every step that you take, we are everywhere, wishing we could all absorb a bit of the pain you feel...

In a way, each comment posted deserves validation. Take the insurance comment at face value... I don't think that any heritage or ethnicity that didn't have top-notch insurance coverage would be facing the same challenges regardless. Either way it sucks that it will be such a financial burden.

Please do spread the word. Even if it trickles in slowly, one donation at a time, spread the word.

This hits home for all of us who just crave the open highway culminating in excruciating traffic jams as we approach our destinations. Jean takes care of EVERYONE she knows. Take a moment and 'pay it forward'. I'm sure it will come back three-fold.

MUCH LOVE

Much love. Big ups to the Organizers & performers.
I'll be driving my family home from SLO that day (safely we trust), but if I can muster it I'll roll down from Poway to support.

But DNove can't be scooting from Winston's? Or maybe a warmup set & drum parade from the Port?

wow did some of this tread go south .... not the thread for that kind of talk ... i am as political as they get, but in the right time and place ... anyway the reason I am posting here is, I am sending in a signed Trey Anastasio poster for the auction for Jean ... please any Trey or Phish people out there that would like such a poster, its the Vegoose 06 one, please consider bidding on it ... I dont know who Jean is as a person, but if she is a jam band fan, or just a music fan, we all need to get behind her ... peace Colorado Ron **** (canexplain)
