MFA: The Drop is bringing the movement back home this Friday, November 10th, 2006, when they headline the Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO.

What began as a four-piece band in 2001 has evolved into a musical movement that creates positive and inspiring dance music in three separate entities:

MFA: The Drop - a quartet that writes and performs many styles of electronic music in a live band setting. Several of MFA: The Drop's tracks are structured improvisations, containing written sections or parts, but no predetermined arrangement to their length and/or location within the music. Often times throughout any given track, the music builds to a climax, breaks down, and "drops" back in at full force. Live instruments are intermixed with pre-written samples and beats, making for a sound much larger than one would expect to hear from just four people. Both highly danceable and musically intriguing, MFA: The Drop is the main project within the MFA collective.

At a live MFA: The Drop show, audiences are treated to a variety of music. Each set begins with a few hip-hop and downtempo tracks, and gradually speeds up in tempo and style, weaving through booming breakbeat and house sensibilities, with an onslaught of drum and bass to close the set.

MFA: Loop-Lab - a live looping instrumental duo. The idea has been developed over the last few years, and finally came to fruition in the summer of 2006. Using the most innovative looping technology, MFA: Loop-Lab creates spontaneous layers of electronic music, completely improvised, and constructed entirely from the most basic – yet the most important – sonic element: silence.

MFA: GMC - Fronted by Ryan Goodman (aka GMC), MFA: GMC is lyricism, turntablism, and Live PA elements fused with various live instrumentalists for an innovative and stimulating musical experience. GMC is the only permanent member of MFA: GMC. He performs with various DJs, vocalists, and live instrumentalists at every live show. Musically, the tracks are all originally written and produced by GMC or other members of the MFA collective. Hip-hop, downtempo, funk, breaks, and other forms of electronic dance music are present throughout the MFA: GMC experience.

Also on the bill for the evening is local electronic act Control and DJ Dirty Frank.
