SUBLIME: EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN
CAREER-SPANNING BOX SET OUT NOVEMBER 14th

"Ten years after Nowell's death, his music has found its own endless summer." -ROLLING STONE

The Long Beach trio known as Sublime began with a gig on July 4th, 1988 that as legend tells ignited the infamous "Peninsula Riot." The chaos and excitement escalated over the next eight years from the backyards of Long Beach and 40 Oz. to Freedom to the national phenomenon of their breakthrough album, Sublime. Sadly, the massive success of Sublime came in the wake of the tragic and untimely death of singer-songwriter-guitarist Bradley Nowell. But the music lives on.

Celebrating Sublime's legacy as one of the most influential bands of the '90s, the career-spanning multi-disc CD and DVD box set Everything Under the Sun will be released on November 14th, 2006 (Geffen/UMe/Gasoline Alley/Skunk) completing the band's discography and tying up loose ends for generations to come.

Simultaneously born from and representative of the inherent culture of Southern California, Sublime's music, created by Bradley, Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums), immediately fused aggressive surf-skate punk and d.i.y. hip-hop with classic dance hall and rock-steady reggae. Sublime's impact from the early cult hit "Date Rape" to their multi-platinum major label debut was at once both a sign of the times and ahead of the curve. The Everything Under the Sun box set will contain demo, live and alternate versions of classics from 40 Oz. to Freedom, Robbin' the Hood, Sublime and Second Hand Smoke along with new and unreleased tracks and video. Everything Under the Sun highlights include a mid-90s remix from the soon to be household name (and LBC homie) Snoop Dogg and a cover of the '60's Dee Dee Warwick (yes, the sister of Dione) soul hit "Foolish Fool," demoed during the Sublime sessions. In 2006, David Kahne, who also produced the classics "What I Got," "April 29, 1992," "Doin' Time," and "Caress Me Down" on Sublime, took the original "Foolish Fool" tracks and produced/mixed this final, never before heard version.

Sublime's career spread far beyond just their studio releases. My best friend used to collect Sublime bootlegs at the old CD shop (now closed because of the internet) and their live performances were raw and energetic. Brad had so much passion for the music and they will always be remembered by me as one of the greatest band's of the 90's.

I saw sublime at a cleveland bar over 12 years ago and they were smokin'. After the show my friends partied with them and f**ked them. RIP Brad.

Brad had tons of passion, energy, talent, and sadly demons. I love the music of Sublime(plus I loved how they always ripped on 311), and everytime I listen to it I think of all the good music that will never be heard. RIP Brad.

Sounds good. I agree they are one of the greatest bands of the 90's. When people think of the early 90's, a lot of people's minds go straight to grunge. Not only was Sublime a great band, but they broke barriers and created a genre of their own. Just look today at all the sublime wanna-be's that there are: 311, slightly stoopid, pepper, etc. Nobody will ever be able to match their talent and creativity. I hear Badfish isn't a bad show though.

I don't think Sublime will ever get the kind of full love and credit they deserve in the mass-music-media industry.
The beauty about that...the band and their fans could give a f***. Breaking musical, age, and socio-economic barriers within their fans is only and rarely achieved by musicians who play what they want, when they want and how they want. Sorry to preach to the choir, looking forward to the DVD stuff...keep Snoop out of another "alt-rock" remix please...

I remember seeing Sublime back when I was growing up in LA. Saw them at the beach in Venice, free show or something like that. I was in high school, maybe. I remember that no one knew who they were. No one was "aware" of their presence until it was far too late, Brad had passed, and finally their music was being brought to the attention of the masses, partly thanks to KROQ and their attention to local-live-music details. Damn, what was the name of those "festivals" they would throw every year around the holidays....ah yes Weenie Roast. Pretty much was the jumping point for most of the Indie bands in SoCal to push into mainstream.

I grew up with sublime in So Cal back in the 90's. I thought they were great when I was 16. I went to a few shows and realized that they really sucked. Sorry everyone who likes this fake, wannna be surfer, punk, rastaman, bullshit. Your poluting the air when you play sublimes silly, talentless crap you think is music.

sooooooo cool. i have every sublime album ever put out and this one looks like it's going to be a good one. hopefully most of the recordings are done professionally and not by some dude holding up a mic while the band played at a party. either way looks great!

I was never a huge fan of Sublime's music. To me, I thought they completley butchered Scarlet Begonias.

OK SO I PICKED THIS UP THIS MORNING AND I AM KINDA ON THE FENCE ABOUT IT. IT SOUNDS A LOT LIKE THE STAND BY YOUR VAN CD. A LOT OF LIVE STUFF. WHILE I REALLY LIKE ALL OF SUBLIMES CD'S THIS BOX SET SEEMS LIKE MORE OF THE SAME. OBVIOUSLY HE IS DEAD SO NO NEW STUFF IS AVALIBLE BUT IT SEEMS LIKE I JUST RE BOUGHT THE LAST 3 CD'S THEY PUT OUT. ANYWAYS STILL A LOTTA LOVE FOR THOSE LONG BEACH PLAYA'S.

I think that all of you are a bunch of dirty haters!! Sublime was the best band that has ever played and I for one have every intention of buying every box set every vinyl and every remix that they ever put out! I feel sorry for all of you sad people who are unable to get over yourselves long enough to realize all of the greatness that Bradley possessed!
