Strangefolk Announces New Line-up and Tour
New York, January 10,2001

The Burlington, VT band Strangefolk officially announced the addition of two new members to the established jam rock line-up known for its intoxicating melodies, lush three-part harmonies and energized explorations. They embark on an East Coast tour on January 31st that will take the band from Massachusetts to Georgia and back.

Originally a four piece ensemble, lead singer and rhythm guitarist Reid Genauer left the band in September 2000. After a series of auditions in New York, Boston and Burlington it was clear that singer/guitarist Luke Montgomery and keyboardist extraordinaire Scott Shdeed were the perfect fit to navigate Strangefolk to the forefront of the jam band scene.

A fixture for years in the New York City music scene, Luke Montgomery incorporates open tunings and flat-picking into his playing style, and injects incredible energy and emotion into Strangefolk’s legendary improvisational jams.

Scott Shdeed plays the Hammond B-3 organ, Wurlitzer piano and other assorted vintage keyboards. Scott’s playing reflects the styles of Merl Saunders, Jimmy Smith and T. Lavitz, and his lightning fast fingers incorporate such musical genres as Gospel, Dixieland, Avante Garde, Be-Bop, Hard-Bop, Cool Jazz and Bluegrass into Strangefolk’s repertoire.
