NEW MONSOON STORMS EAST

New Monsoon with moe. :: 09.22.06 :: The Warfield, SF
By Susan J. Weiand
After trekking to most corners of the country this summer, including Alaska, New Monsoon is poised to return to the Northeast and Midwest, from September 29th - October 14th. Gigging with the likes of Steve Kimock, Tim Carbone, ALO, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Hot Buttered Rum, moe., and other great artists too numerous to mention, 2006 has been a fruitful year for the band that calls San Francisco its home.

New Monsoon will begin its "Autumn Wind Tour 2006" on September 29th at The Stone Church in Newmarket, NH, the band's first appearance at this venue. Other tour highlights include two shows in Philadelphia and Stanhope, NJ, with the stellar Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth sitting in, a frequent very special guest over the years. Good buddies Hot Buttered Rum will join forces with New Monsoon at New York City's Mercury Lounge on October 5th and 6th, with the two bands flip-flopping closing sets. After recently playing the Warfield Theatre together, New Monsoon will open for moe. again, this time at the Hampton Beach Casino in Hampton Beach, NH, on October 7.

The band's full fall tour schedule is full of interesting musical collaborations, and several that are yet to be announced; that schedule is below. More specific information can also be found at www.newmonsoon.com/tour.

I love New Monsoon. No band delivers better live performances, so if they are near you don't miss them! I sure hope I can make it to the Madison show.

The hardest working band out on the road ! Well-worth seeing! The best band to hit the scene since the '60's!!!

Wish there were a few more shows down south, but wouldn't miss the Charlotte show w/ the Motet for anything. That's 2 of the freshest, most energetic bands on the scene. I've only seen NM 3 times, and not only was every show very good, but all pretty different too.

They are definitely solid - Jam rock/ bluegrass fusion... 11/11 ATL GA w/ Tea Leaf Green should be good.

They were an absolute hoot to open for @ Martyrs' in Chi-town. Nicest, hardest working guys who deserve even more then they already get! Get out and give it to'em!

Catch these guys as soon as you can. Think King Crimson with a kick-ass percussion section. They tore up the Pour House in Raleigh (even though they didn't do Double Clutch or Bridge of the Gods). Don, Bo, Jeff, Marty, Phil - great show, good times, get your butts back east. Now!!
