Ryan Montbleau Band
Recently nominated in the Boston Music Awards' Outstanding Male Singer/Songwriter category, Ryan Montbleau Band is making major headway.

Having established themselves as one of the Northeast's premier original touring acts, the former coffee house folkster Ryan Montbleau and his eponymous band is on the verge of significant national success.

This success has been purely grassroots, with audiences responding fervently to the band's unique sound, which could be described as Martin Sexton by way of Stevie Wonder. A mix of Americana, folk, blues, ragtime and '70s soul, the music is all anchored by Ryan Montbleau's meaningful lyrics and memorable voice. A solo artist with an infectious, percussive fingerpicking guitar style and poignant lyrical prowess, Boston's Ryan Montbleau quickly gained regional notoriety as a powerful songsmith. Montbleau's unique sound and charismatic performances were enough to convince a handful of the top local players to join the cause. With the addition of brothers Jason and James Cohen (keys and drums), Matt Giannaros (electric and acoustic bass) and Lawrence Scudder (viola), the Ryan Montbleau band took shape and hit the road. The past two years have been an endless tour of club, theater and festival dates from Chicago to Atlanta to Portland, Maine.

The slightly off-center instrumentation and combination of classic and contemporary sounds is the perfect compliment to Ryan's words and songs. Deeply infused with analogy and prose, while offering a glimpse of light into human emotion, devotion and a deep-rooted instinct to strive for something higher, Ryan's storylines are chalk full of quintessential one-liners. In the context of his top shelf band, the songs breathe with the depth of a classic poet, coyly camouflaged by the upbeat -- often funky-- and always uplifting live performances.

Ryan Montbleau Band's independent debut studio effort, One Fine Color, was released this past Valentine's Day and has been selling briskly, bolstered in part by the band's touring, radio play and strong reviews throughout North America. Thanks to online distribution, CDs are even selling in Europe, Scandinavia and Japan.

"Ryan Montbleau is the real deal -- this is an artist who is truly on his way."
- Alan Chase, Wire Magazine

Very much looking forward to seeing these guys in Elmira, NY next Saturday...My buddy booked them for an outdoor festival. Being less in-tune w/ the Jack Johnsons, Ben Harpers, Gusters, OARs, Dave Matthews of the jam commmunity, I am interested to see where Ryan MOntbleau finds his niche in the jam/college rock radar. Cheers on their success! Johnny Goff, 28, Elmira, NY

Hey milesgone, try listening to the CD, since that's what it's typically used for. And if the CD don't grab ya, that's OK, but as a fan of live music you should really be checking out Archive.org to get a better idea of what these guys are all about. And what's with the "who pays people to say nice things" comment? This band barely makes enough right now to pay for gas you you think they're paying for press releases?! Please at least get your facts straight before posting garbage like that.

TraderDan is right! These kids really rock, and if you wanna' here them do it up right, listen to them live. But, just so you know, there are multiple occasions where I've busted out my Montbleau Boyz CD, so I dunno why milesgone doesn't think he can use it for anything...

Anybody get to catch RMB's show at High Sierra? Fanfuckingtastic! They worked the early morning show right, and before I knew it, and before my coffee had kicked in, I was up on feet dancing away. Another little gem at the festie- Ryan singing at the High Sierra acoustic workshop w/ Matty supporting. Seeing both styles of shows, you can tell how this band caters to the crowd in front of them versus just playing like a lot of other bands. Anyone heading to High Sierra next year- don't miss those workshops- what you'll catch their is priceless especially if you have a musician like Ryan sitting in.
