BECK: The Information
Interscope Records :: October 3, 2006

MICHEL GONDRY-DIRECTED VIDEO FOR "CELL PHONE'S DEAD" COMPLETED
HEADLINING DETOUR AND DOWNLOAD FESTIVALS

Beck
Three years in the making, The Information is the album Beck began work on with producer Nigel Godrich (Beck's Sea Change, Mutations; Radiohead's OK Computer, Kid A) before last year's Guero. The Information was finally completed earlier this year once extended touring engagements necessitated by Guero's success, as well as Nigel's other commitments, were fulfilled.

The Information is comprised of 15 songs and a DVD featuring homemade videos for each of the 15 songs shot in-studio during the actual sessions. The artwork for The Information is either non-existent or infinite, depending on one's point of view: Each copy will come in a blank package with one of four collectible sticker sheets specially designed by American and European artists hand-picked by Beck.

In addition to the self-shot videos currently floating around on Beck.com, Beck's MySpace page, Youtube and various other corners of the Internet, Beck recently shot a video for "Cell Phone's Dead," directed by Michel Gondry.

On the live front, Beck will follow his previously announced headlining slot at this year's Download Festival September 30 at San Francisco's Shoreline Amphitheater with a top-billed appearance at the Detour Festival October 7 in downtown Los Angeles.

Nigel Godrich is the man with the golden ear. Can't wait to hear this album. Plus he's playing the Tower?!?! Can't wait!

beck does make good albums, but for the love of god save yourself the money and don't see him in concert ever. nothing special, and way too much gimmack.

but i don't doubt that this album will be wonderful.

Hey now, Beck live is something to see. Was anyone at Bonnaroo this year? It was a tough call b/c it overlapped with Les, but I caught a good bit of it and I was very pleased. I'll watch a band with a puppet show any day of the week. The music was as hip as always, but those puppets made the show!

Love the man. Love the albums. But for me, the Bonnaroo performance was a letdown. These are die-hard music fans. Show us what you got and save the fluff (puppets, videos, play-acting, pre-recorded songs) for MTV.

I saw him around 10 years ago in Charlotte, small venue. One of the few non "jam band" like bands I've seen with my third eyeball cleaned quite clearly, and it was a trip. From my vantage point, he almost appeared to have on an Elvis like white jumpsuit or something and the only thing I really remember from it was 1. I felt old compared to the rest of the crowd. 2. I had not been to a show where an artist played for an hour and that was it, and the crowd didn't care, and expected it to only be that long. I was like, "That's it?" 3. He had to stop a song because security were being absolutely brutal with people. I have no idea what a Beck show is like now.

Beck is and has been O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D!! The only Beck that should be worth mentioning is guitar master Jeff Beck!

Al you punks stop hating on Beck he is one of the most creative acts around and you can't compare Jeff Beck and Beck, their two totally different styles of music. Plus Beck is awesome live you guys just can't get over the crowd and just watch the show. Beck definitely is a very underrated musician due to his crazy and utlandish style but he has the raw and soulful feeling most of us urge for.

First off all, Beck is THE man, he writes songs like nobody else on this planet, good, bad or indifferent. Secondly, I saw him a few times, always a great show. Front row at the Beacon Theater Halloween night was a highlight.(even though the Flaming Lips were his un-qualified backing band.) Safe to say his new album will be just another step in some direction into the comfortable unknown. I just heard one of his new songs on the radio and hoped it was him because if it wasn't, I would have written the band "Muse" an apology letter for incorrectly accusing them of being the only band to BLATANTLY rip off another bands sound!! (soooo pissed off when i found out it wasn't Radiohead)
