Perpetual Groove

When Savannah-based quartet Perpetual Groove (PG) first began touring more extensively in 2001, they broke out of the Southeast region. The band would pass out free live CD's of past performances at their concerts as a gorilla marketing tactic which led a grassroots buzz that enabled the band to gradually expand their touring and fan base, noticeable not only at their performances, but online as well. Their "Talking in Place," a discussion board on the band's website is one of the fastest growing online communities, with over 2,339 active members. Now, a mere five years later, PG is one of the hottest young bands on the national touring circuit traveling with a dazzling and continually expanding light show.

Musically, the band blends driving rock, futuristic effects, and an uncanny knack for melody in creating a sound that truly has no bounds. Under their collective belt, PG has recorded two original studio albums, 2005's All This Everything which was recorded in Atlanta's Tree Sound Studios and produced by Grammy Award Recipient Robert Hannon (Outkast, Black Eyed Peas, Ludacris,) and 2003's Sweet Oblivious Antidote (on Harmonized Records). This past summer they were back at Tree Sound Studios with Hannon and will release their third album in the fall on Tree Leaf Records.

The press has been taking notice. In the July issue of Relix Magazine, PG was credited as the 3rd top reason to the quick success of the Wakarusa Music Festival and JamBase.com has pegged them as one of the "Best Emerging Artist." This past September they were featured on the Comcast and Charter Cable TV's On Demand Programming. The runaway momentum has taken PG out of the small hard ticket sale venues of the Southeast club circuit and has brought the band to the national theatre format, headlining multiple sold-out nights at famed venues like Atlanta's Variety Playhouse and Athens' Georgia Theatre in addition to becoming a must have at several high profile festivals across the nation. The band's innovation has also carried over into the production side of the live performance being the only artists to achieve touring 12 performances in Dolby 5.1 SurroundSound.

PG has appeared at several reputable events such as the High Sierra Music Festival, Langerado, Wakarusa, 10,000 Lakes, Bonnaroo, Jam Cruise, Xingolati Pacific Groove Cruise, Jazzfest, and in NYC's Largest Earthday Celebration in the World the "Green Apple Music Festival." In 2006 the band ventured far across the Pacific Ocean for its debut tour of Japan.

Entering a new era of traveling via tour bus, their current tour finds the band crossing the nation leaving their van behind, performing in much larger concert halls and theaters. PG will kick off 2007 once again with an appearance on the sea-bound festival Jam Cruise and is slated to travel to Japan for their second time in late spring. In keeping with tradition, a few special performances have been slotted into the fall schedule. For the third time, fans can enjoy Dinner With The Band at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem. Moving to the northeast, Just Cruisin' 3, a Surf and Turf weekend in NYC, spanning two nights, features the band on the Paddlewheel Queen during a special late night concert cruise followed the next evening by a performance at the famed Main Space at The Knitting Factory, as for Halloween, fans can look forward to an exclusive performance at Atlanta's Variety Playhouse, and for the first time ever, a multiple city New Year's Run with performances in Athens and Charleston.

I agree Bdaughert.. I had a great conversation with the guitar player from Cadillac Jones (atlanta funk band)who agreed with me that>>>>>
I told him dudes guitar playing was ok, and he never misses a note, but he goes over THE SAME notes, repeatedly, sometimes faster, others slower, and its all in D Minor. I have tried to get into them after 4 shows, and it isnt working. For high school kids all E-balled out, it may seem really cool, but to an old head like me (dead,panic,phish), they dont cut it. I feel more aggravated than pleased when I see them. I go because my city doesnt get much tunes, so I will take what I can get, even if I am not a big fan. And again they are coming back to town and I will go try again.
Got to give me high five for not giving up on some southern brothas.. Besides, if P groove excites some people then they are lucky to have another favorite band. Peace Ya'll

Im from Atlanta where P-groove plays alot, and I will say they are the best band touring right now. Ive seen many, many different acts before, and Perpetual Groove is the most fun, groovy band to see. They throw down the craiest covers, and I have never lost attention during any of their songs. Go see them if you havent

I've seen these guys a couple times and I happy to say each time they get better. These guys are growing w/ every tour. I like how they not afraid to get heavy.

to anyone that missed A Mid Winter Night's Dream with PGroove this past February...do not miss the Pre Hallows Dream. They will be joined by Zach Gill Steve Adams and Dan Lebowitz...and dont think for one second that will be all...many a tricks up the sleeve for San francisco on this night ;)

Gotta play western new york.... First saw them at bonnaroo 05 on that thursday night, never heard of them and was blowin away. I love that feeling of new music. That thursday night was weird though, kept building up with Signal Path than P-groove, then sucked out with gabby lala and claypool

These guys are incredible. I have never been dissappointed at a show. Brock's guitar laying is a face melter for sure.

Love this band. I've seen them 14 times this year. They have a different sound and it can take some time to appreciate. The movements in the music are subtle and understated. Brock's songwriting is second to none. They love their fans and work hard to bring it at every show.

Oh and they are very photogenic.

I saw them again Saturday night in Richmond Va...they have made huge improvements since I saw them last and this fall tour should be huge for them. If you live out west go see them this tour, its unbelievable

Just when you think this band can't reach any higher, they just keeps getting better and better.

All I can tell you is if you have not checked out there sound, YOU MUST!!

To comment on Milesgone, I agree with you somewhat, but i dont think u really no what ur talking about when it comes to brocks guitar playing, that sound is what makes pgroove who they are. obviously that sound is working because I've never seen a fan base for a band grow so quickly. Pgroove is a trance-arena rock, like phreakyjew said that they're filling the void for a totally different fan.

this is a fun band to see!! no one finishes a song better than perpetual groove!! they build and build a song and then bring it home to a finish that leaves you breathless! they blend original tunes with both emotional lyrics and great instumental jams intermixed with cover tunes that exceed the original versions. It is almost impossible not to dance at a p groove show

Been listening to P groove for a few years now. Fell in love with them the first time I saw them. Saw the NYE run in Athens, GA this past year and a few other shows around NC. Everyone in the band can own a show on any particular night. The lights are really great and the scene is really something special ~all great vibes . Hopefully the atmosphere around the band will remain intact as the crowds grow. Peace, love and music

P-Groove is trans-fusion combined with face melting tension-release guitar jams and their lyrics are good too. They are very similar to Bisco but since thier still on thier way up they work much harder to please their fans. Catch them now while the scene is still positive and band is far from getting cynical.

This band has pretty much defined my life over the past 3 years. Their music can really make time just stop for me, make me so happy to just be right there dancing to the notes around me, while any other care in the world melts away, and I am just a happy dancing soul in the crowd. And that sounds all hippy dippy, but go to a show and you'll see. An amazing band, extremely nice people, and the most amazing loyal and open family surrounding them I have ever had the pleasure in life to be apart of.

Only good things will come to this band, and I am honestly so happy to see them growing and see their music reaching more and morepeople these days.

but to me, his playing is a repeat of the same notes in D minor. faster, slower doesnt matter, he reminds me of someone
"boxing himself in" or continuously "imploding" on the guitar.
Pgrooves peak to their songs is going into the next song, rather than Peaking the tune they are playing right then.
Sorry man.. I cant help it. Brock never misses a note, but I keep feeling he doesnt expand outward, just inward, constantly "imploding all the notes" . I just cant get into repeating notes over and over again. again.. Your lucky if you love them.. I kinda wish I did, so I could have more great stuff to listen to. peace ya'll

well too.. I am huge panic fan and I am 36 years old.
If I was in my 20's and didnt have all this experience behind me, then P Groove would probably strike me differently. I am certain of that. When I go to their shows 90% of the crowd is under 25. WSP is the most intense rock band I have ever seen.

i will have to say, pgroove is rockin every venue they play. i see them every chance i get because their shows are like no other. experience or no experience, 73 or 13, this music can be enjoyed by anyone. i love the dead, phish, panic and cheese as well but pgroove's got something different going on. see a show asap. ill see you all in the southeast.

I saw p-groove for the first time in a few years about 2 months ago at the variety and it was terrible. I use to see them a lot when I was livin in Statesboro and they would jam out all night, but when I saw them again at the variety it seemed they replaced a lot of their jams with a synthesizer. hopefully they were just off that night or were playin around with a new toy they recently added. I think I might give them another try on halloween, but am still hesitant.

FINALLY!!! They were here saturday nite in chattanooga.
The first set was plain jane, piddling pgroove, but then....
SECOND SET!!!!! Finally brought the HEAT!! NOWWWW,,, I see what the hype is about!! Jesus man.. Play like that every time!! I cant go to a damn show, not knowing are they gonna play HOT OR COLD?? It needs to be HOT every single time, that is the mark of the truly professional band. Now after FIVE freaking times I see pgroove, they give me a set worth freaking out about... What took so long??? dangit..
Thank you Pgroove, for showing me your HOT side, it was a long damn wait. Hurry on back now, so I can see it again.
