Nicki Bluhm &The Gramblers: Viral Video Sensation

We’re not ones to say we told you so…but in this instance we’re going to. JamBase has been extolling the virtues of Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers since their debut album, Toby’s Song, dropped in 2008 (JamBase review). And we’ve never let up the gas because Bluhm and her compatriots make just plain old good rock ‘n’ roll, and Lord know there’s far too little of that kicking around these days. Well, apparently the rest of the world is starting to catch on thanks to the latest installment in the band’s ongoing Van Sessions series of cover tune performances captured while cruising down the road on tour. It doesn’t hurt that this time they’ve chosen to tackle one of the greatest singles of all time AND do it with major aplomb. So far this clip below has racked up over 800,000 views and has been shared around in the past two weeks by the likes of Cameron Crowe, Wil Wheaton, Perez Hilton and the mighty Hall & Oates themselves. Take a gander and see if we can’t get these kids up to a cool million shall we?

And this week in honor of the success of “I Can’t Go For That,” Nicki and The Gramblers are offering both of their albums, Toby’s Song and last year’s Driftwood for just $5.99 on iTunes this week. Pick them up here.

You can read more about the Gramblers and Driftwood in this 2011 interview with Nicki.

And finally, if you need a sweetness fix, peep this new video directed by the ever-talented Jay Blakesberg for a keeper off Nicki’s new Duets album with hubby Tim Bluhm. Major Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid/”Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head” flashback to this one. See for yourself below!
