OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW'S BIG IRON WORLD IN STORES NOW!

Old Crow Medicine Show
OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW (OCMS) release their sophomore album, BIG IRON WORLD, the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album, O.C.M.S., which has sold 130,000 records to date. The band celebrated early this morning with a midnight show at Tower Records in Nashville playing into the wee hours. They kick off their North American headlining tour, "An Evening With Old Crow Medicine Show," on August 30th in Louisville.

iTunes decided to get a jump on the release and picked "James River Blues" as their Discovery Download of the week. "Down Home Girl," the video directed by acclaimed rock photographer Danny Clinch, debuts this week on CMT and Great American Country (GAC). Monday, September 4th, Old Crow Medicine Show will appear on NPR'S highly acclaimed "All Things Considered" and will follow up on September 23rd with a stop in St. Paul to perform for the seventh time on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. Old Crow Medicine Show is also on the cover of the September/October issue of NO DEPRESSION and currently ranks number six on the Americana Airplay Chart.

Produced by David Rawlings (Gillian Welch), Big Iron World combines traditional American standards, including Woody Guthrie's "Union Maid," with OCMS originals that blend American roots, folk, blues, gospel, bluegrass and a little bit of gritty rock. The first single off the album, a cover of the Rolling Stone's "Down Home Girl" (Leiber/Butler), hit radio early this month and quickly became the #2 most added song at Triple A radio.

OCMS' spirit is infectious and spreading rapidly. To date, Old Crow Medicine Show has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, performed 12 times on the Grand Ole Opry and has played the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This prompted Matt Lauer to call them "The Rolling Stones of bluegrass."

OCMS draws from a variety of genres to create music that is uniquely their own; here is what people are saying...

"The perfect soundtrack to dousing a roadhouse with whiskey and then setting a match to it." -ELLE, September 2006

"Young men in their 20s- sound like seasoned bluegrass musicians." - VANITY FAIR, September 2005

"Embraced by improv rock and old-time music fans alike, Old Crow Medicine Show is building a devoted fan base by playing great songs really well." -BILLBOARD, Critics' Choice - September 2nd"

"Fame will soon lift her skirt for the band." -Village Voice

These guys are great, last nite at Tower was pretty sweet. I'm tired as hell today at work, but it was worth it. This record is definitely worth a look if you like some rockin raunchy down home bluegrass.

Amen, Cocheese. I saw these guys in April 2005 at a bluegrass festival in Aiken, SC and they rocked the house with basically about fifty people dancing and the rest older folks kicking it in their lawn chairs. On the other end of the spectrum, I couldn't even get in to see the first set when they played Greenville, SC about a month or so ago because it was sold out. I managed to get in for the second set and remembered quickly why the hell it was I wanted to see them again so bad. Great show, great little quips between songs, fun time. The Old Crow in Asheville on Oct. 26 and moe. for the next two next nights there.

hey, Filo, i was at that same show in Aiken last year! great line-up with Rowan/Rice too... as you say, it was a very laid-back crowd and odd but interesting setting in the downtown streets of aiken. that's where old crow really sank the hook in me, too. i'm lookin forward to hearing this new album, and hope they'll come visit us in Lowcountry SC again soon (though unfortunately not this tour)

I heard a couple songs from this new album on "A Prairie Home Companion" a few months ago and it all sounded pretty good. Garrison really likes them a lot and even personally requested Tell It To Me! I can't really imagine the Down Home Girl song being a music video, but what the hell...more power to 'em. Can't wait to here the rest of the disc
