CMJ ANNOUNCE ARTISTS

THE KNIFE, THE BLACK KEYS, THE SLITS AND MORE CONFIRMED TO PERFORM AT CMJ MUSIC MARATHON 2006!

CMJ Music Marathon is proud to announce performances by THE KNIFE, THE BLACK KEYS, THE SLITS and more as part of CMJ 2006, which runs from October 31 - November 4, 2006 at Lincoln Center and 50+ music venues across New York City. Featuring more than 1,000 acts—plus panel discussions, FilmFest events and much more, CMJ Music Marathon lives up to its name again once again in 2006.

A few highlights from the initial CMJ 2006 lineup include:

The Stockholm-based brother and sister duo, The Knife, bring the United States debut of their dark fusion of technology and emotion to CMJ Music Marathon. Their latest effort, Silent Shout (Mute), is currently climbing its way to the top of CMJ's Radio charts.

The Slits, one of the most significant punk bands of the late 70s, recently reunited and recorded their first new material in twenty years. Now front woman Ari Up is bringing them to the USA for their first full-length tour in over two and a half decades.

2006 Mercury Prize nominees Hot Chip continues to tour in support of their home-recorded electro adventure The Warning (Astralwerks/DFA). They'll be bringing the infectious dance party back to NYC as part of their latest victory lap through the US.

With their fuzzed-out guitar riffs, heavy drums, growling vocals and clever lyrical twists, The Black Keys have managed to take their unlikely sound to a massive audience. Due in September, Magic Potion-their first album for Nonesuch—is their grittiest and most stripped down album to date.

Legendary DJ and producer, Madlib will be featured on a new tribute to Adult Swim: Peanut Butter Wolf presents Adult Swim & Stones Throw's CHROME CHILDREN, a CD/DVD by Stones Throw Records founder Peanut Butter Wolf, due out in October.
