Listening to the Sirius Jam On as I type. Got a little Mt. Jam going. I super-enjoy the channel. You can tell Stef has a lot of input as Gov't Mule/ABB/Warren solo. probably, and this is a conservative estimate, get a combined 20- 25 spins a day. Which is cool. Also, play lots of non-Dead Jerry stuff. And new bands. The only bad thing is they play O.A.R. and too much DMB but that's neither here nor there.

got sirius for howard than discovered 17 jam on... listen to it constantly... i can deal with a couple of o.a.r and dmb songs which don't occur too frequently, but have to admit stef scamardo does play a little too much of her husband... huge warren fan, but come on woman!!

What's XM? ohh yea that other radio company that is losing thousands of subcriptions a month to Sirius. I bought Sirius for Jam On. I am so glad I did b/c XM is a dying company. I have always lived in the country, and Howard was never syndicated where I lived. Now I listen to 101 all day through work and most times in the car.

XM would be the shit if they had a Jam station with someone highly connected and respected in the scene as the program director, Howard Stern,Bubba the Love Sponge, NFL, NBA, or the NHL. But look out they are trading their NASCAR contract for an Ophrah contract. Sirius has everything anyone would ever want out of a radio service. If you are listening to anything less you are wasting your time and money.

XM was the worst. First, mine broke down after like 3 months, and then they dropped XM Music Lab. Man was I pissed off. Music Lab wasn't even that great anyways, but they did have the Phriday Night Phish Phry and the occasional good song in between really weird techno and 80's prog metal. I really want a Sirius. It looks awesome.

I've had sirius for over a year and couldn't live without it!! Jam_On is exactly what the music scene needed! I hear you though mikeyz, I can't stand Stef Scamardo, her voice is like nails on a chalk board to me! For all those who don't have sirius, it's the best $13 I spend every month!! Not to mention Gone Phishin every weekday! Gotta love it! Need more moe. though!

i miss Jerry G....alot.
However I'd like to comment on Jam_On. There are waaay too many repeats. It's like they have their own top 10 songs and repeat them over and over again. There is sirius favoritism towards Gov't Mule (I wonder why) and Widespread Panic (who I will NEVER understand) I wish they'd play more of a variety of up and comers. Since Aug 1 all I hear is the studio version of Comes A Time over and over again. Can't they get their hands on other Dead/Garcia? Just my 2 cents.
Love you Jerry.

Day of reflection.......I'm only 31, but got to see Jerry 20+ times from 88-95. My first concert for any band was 7/4/88 Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead in Foxboro, MA.......I was only 14! Started seeing Phish in 95 after Jerry passed. I remember 8/9/95. I was driving in a PU truck towing a landscape trailer. Sugar Mag came on the radio, and I was especially excited because I had just recieved mail order tix for 4 out of 6 nights (Grateful Dead) at the Boston Garden. At the end of the song the DJ announced, "Jerry Garcia passed away this morning at the age of 53." I nearly drove the whole fucking rig off the road!!! Ironically Bob Weir was playing that night at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in NH. Me and a buddy called the boss, banged in the rest of the day and headed North to hopefully get in. We weren't sure if Bobby would cancel, but we just had to be with our "people". Not only did the show go on, but Bobby told management that he would only play if they opended all the doors and windows in the front of the building so that the 5000+ heads outside, including us could hear the show. It was sold out, obviuosly, but we were able to experience that night with many others that loved the dead. I'll never forget it as long as I live. After the show there were propbably close 10,000 people on the beach sharing stories, laughing, and crying. Another quick memory from that evening.........a man stood on a milk crate and asked for everyones attention. I would say he commanded the view of about 400-500 people to read a poem. I dont remember the poem except for the first line. He said, "I am not hear tonight to mourn a death. Instead I choose to celebrate a life.........." The Grateful Dead music is timeless and hopefully will live on forever. Jam Om is great, maybe a bit less panic though. Thanks for reading.
