News was leaked on Billboard.com, indicating that The Strokes have recorded a cover of Marvin Gaye's classic, "Mercy Mercy Me" with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme. Apparently the song will be used as the B-Side for the "You Only Live Once" single scheduled for a July release.
Homme joins The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti on drums (as he does in Eagles of Death Metal), while Vedder and Strokes singer Julian Casablancas tackle vocal duties.
The Strokes are currently on an international summer tour and will perform June 10 in Mountain View, CA at Shoreline Amphitheatre as part of Live 105's BFD festival. Franz Ferdinand, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, AFI, Wolfmother and Echo & the Bunnymen are also on the bill.
