This is really pretty amazing. A band that's considered a jam band getting invited to appear at a main stream event like a Cubs v. Sox game. Congrats to UM. Next thing you know, they'll be on Oprah. ;)

ericgorsuch, let us not forget that Phish (which has always been considered a jamband) has done the national anthem at more than a handful of sporting events over the years. They were even invited to Game 4 of the NBA Finals in 2003. Much respect to UM, but I don't think there's any way to top a barbershop quartet rendition of the SSB sung by the boys.

SS4582: Lest we don't forget the Dead sang the national anthem at a World Series game between the 2 bay area teams. It was the game that got interrupted by one of the largest earthquakes in CA history during the 20th century. Quite memorable.

srr4582, this has nothing to do with phish. Yes they have made many breakthru's with americas mainstream society. But umphrey's is not to be compared to them because this is an accomplishment in umph's time. If you are an umphreak then you have watched them come a very long way and it's nice to watch their developement as an incredible band so quit hating and start celebratin.. philly umphreaks unite.

All Ive got to say, is that being a fan of The Dead, Phish, and UM: I don't give a sh*t who sang the SSB first. Im glad all of these innovative, creative, and phriendly bands get a chance to showcase their abilities, albeit without instraments. ROCK SHOW!!!!!
