TREY ANASTASIO, MIKE GORDON AND THE BENEVENTO/RUSSO DUO TO TOUR THIS SUMMER WITH PHIL LESH & FRIENDS

From Phish.com:

Trey Anastasio
For the first time, Trey and Mike are hitting the road together for over three weeks of dates, including a double bill with Phil Lesh & Friends for ten shows beginning June 28 in Raleigh, N.C. Rounding out the band is The Duo - Marco Benevento on keyboards and Joe Russo on drums. Though Mike has been performing with the Duo on and off for the past three years, the genesis of the group came together earlier this year when Trey asked Mike and the Duo to join him for a recording session at a Brooklyn studio. Suffice to say, the material rocks. In addition to the new songs, the group will also draw on each other's repertoire and beyond.

Trey and Mike's dates with Phil Lesh & Friends follow below. Both bands will play full shows - Trey and Mike will close a handful of shows, and Phil Lesh & Friends will close the rest. In addition, The Benevento/Russo Duo will open each show on their own. We expect to announce up to an additional week of Trey & Mike with the Duo dates sometime shortly.

Tickets will be available through a real time presale beginning Friday, May 5 at NOON EST at http://treytickets.rlc.net. Public on-sales start Friday, May 12. Full show and ticket information will be made available at the tourdates page at Phish.com, www.mike-gordon.com and www.trey.com over the course of this week.

I hope Trey waits more than a couple years before they get the band back together... Does anyone want a repeat of last time? Didn't think so...

You can't say that Trey hasn't done anything cool since Phish, Oysterhead is nasty. Also, I have to say that the debut of SerialPod at Xmas Jam last December was one of the best shows I saw all year. If you haven't heard it I strongly recommend you check it out. Trey, Mike and the Duo, I'm there.

Rumors of this had been circulating around months ago and I am glad to see they aren't just rumors. If I was in the states I would be at every single show as well, no matter what my other responsibilities were. Guareented sell-outs! Thanks for coming up with something that the fans will eat up for sure, Trey!

Is it Treys band, the Duo w/ Gordon, and Phil as seperate bands? Or is it trey, Mike, and the Duo.....and then Phil and Friends? Please let be the foursome. Phish.net makes it sound like three bands on tour not two.

I would like to respond to phisherman83. Serial Pod was awful...especially when Kreutzman mutilated Chalkdust Torture. Now as for the Duo, especially the Duo and Mike which I saw twice in Athens and Atl.,WOW!! THe Foam that spanned the whole forst set in Athens was pretty cool if you like Jazz...which I do. Sorry Serial Pod, as a drummer, Kreutzman should stick with the dead and practice the Phish covers before he comes out to play them

Joe could tour by himself and I would go see. I cant think of drums without thinking of this kid. In the time he spent in Boulder he raised the bar for local drummers so high Dave Watts couldnt even touch it! not that anyone in town could have. I think Trey and Mike are pretty lucky. With any luck this will bring the Duo to a place in buisines where they are known as well as MMW. The world deserves this music!

JOEY #@*#*% RUSSO!!!

drewernie: It's the foursome. Phish.net has most of the story wrong. They don't even know what radio station it was on. They make it sound like it was on a station in Atlanta, when it was really a sirius station. I heard the interview. He says they will be playing as a 4some.

Very exciting stuff indeed. But I sure hope The Duo doesn't hit MMW heights anytime soon. Not that they don't fully deserve it, but I can see them for under $20 this weekend at the Bowery Ballroom. MMW is charging upwards of $50 for acoustic sets in places with names like the New York Society for Preservation of High Arts and WhatNot. Not that it's not 100% worth it. But gimme SRO Duo any day over MMW in a Society Ballroom. So.....Phish is getting back together when? Is it too soon to vote for Halloween covers? Let's get a thread going on that. I'll just throw one out there....oh I don't know....Sublime - "S/T"! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, hippie.

holy shit! this is no doubt gonna be the hottest shit of the summer. please come through the east coast. anybody else get overwhelmed by the fact that there is so much good music in the world, and so little time to listen to it? i mean all these awesome bands and musicians have recieved the attention they deserved in the absence of phish. now phish is gonna be back (or at least partially for the time being, we all know it commin) what to do? i guess enjoy every moment possible. long live phish hype!!

Trusmoka- while the serialpod show was a bit sloppy, there were some pretty magical moments, especially Trey grooving on Billy's swingin' ass beats (listen to 'Waves' to get an idea what I'm talking about). As for 70 Volt parade, I must agree that they were fucking terrible. I certainly won't shed a tear if I never see Les Hall again in my life or if the song 'Shine' was erased from our collective memory.
As for this tour, I have no doubt that the heat will be brought. Let's have a big Deer Creek party! Maybe we could get a Yonder/Cheese/UM show the day before? Crazier things have happened at that place (2001- Phil/Dylan double bill before 3 nights of Phish, which included the famous 'Moby Dick show) Let get wild!
