I can't imagine moe. having the best performance of the year. I wasn't there, but I've never been impressed by moe. There noodling is very pointless and doesn't progress the song. But hey the Jammy employees are professionals and I'm sure they have seen alot more shows than me, I'll trust them. All the other choices look very solid to me.

moe. wasn't the strongest performance of the year, but it was a very solid performance and they were also raising money for a very good cause, The Tsunami Benefit. I think the performance along with raising money for a good cause is surely reason enough for them to have recieved the honor.

My last moe experience wasn't spactacular or anything but I know those guys have it them, good job! For those who think moe just noodles all the time, check out the first "warts and all" or and I think you might discover what the jammy judges see in them. Congrats to all the winners. What a job those jammy employees have.

The Tsunami Benefit tapes are sick. I know Moe. has there sound and are NOT gonna change it, but those guys have developed a nice collection of awards and worked on many good causes...props to Moe. (keep the Afro wigs!!!)

The reason for best live show was judged solely on one thing. And that this is>>>>>>>

Did EVERYONE miss the Flaming lips' doc, FEARLESS FREAKS!?!?! I like scorsese but Bradley Beesley blows him out of the fucking water with this one. With over twenty years of home footage, amazing interveiws, and a STORY releveant to anybody who watches, Beesley put together possibly the best music doc of all time!!!! Scorsese's film was just a bunch of concert footage he didnt' even shoot, and a several really half-assed interveiws, only to just end after two and a half hours, as if the day Dylan got in a motorcycle crash his life, his STORY was over???? I mean it's sad that 3 6 mafia has more oscars than scorsese, but i thought the jammy's are about the art, not the name behind it??? WATCH FEARLESS FREAKS!

There are no "Jammys judges" and the employees don't pick the winners, the fans do. pat5507, if you didn't think moe. should have won, you should take your own advice and trust the judges... by voting.

Theses are some of jammy's worst picks they have ever had. Has anyone even listened to kicking television. I love it and I hate Wilco. Did anyone watch the Les DVD. For the studio it should have been Bright Eyes folk album, did you guys here the the song with jim james from mmj. Give me a break. People should not vote for music they think the are supposed to, but the music that is the best. Get out of noodleville and listen to some real tunes

Maybe you might classify the music as not "jammy" enough, but Trio! was one of the best shows I've ever seen, and definitely the most talent I've ever seen on one stage. Where is the respect? Where is the live release?

Where is The Duo wins and Pnuma. Grace Potter won over Pnuma. Pnuma is the future of music. WHo Is Grace Potter I have never even heard of her. The Duo didn't get one award. sounds like to me that the show sucked and all the main stream "jambands" won there awards. Panic suck and the only reason they won was because the are the biggest jamband around right now. Frat boys and drunk girls glorify PAnic like their Gods, when really there just one step away from Lynard Skynard. Phish that is a worthy win, and Moe are also worthy. Pnuma should have got ne groove and if not Pnuma then at least Green Lemon. God help the JAmband wolrd when are festivals include The Flaming Lips and Clap your hands and say yeah. When a the headliner for Bonnoroo is Beck and Deathcab for Cutie. Go Biscuits, because they still keep it original and STS9 as well. I wish G MUle and Panic would shut up and let real music be heard. That my story and I'm sticking to it.
Set Break IS Over. Phish 4ever. Bisco lives and And everyone else only tries to be as good as the mighty BIscuits.
BIsco! Period.........

Tea Leaf Green Tea Leaf Green Tea Leaf Green. Can't say enough about these guys. They are the spark that the genre has been seeking for a while. Glad that they have recieved recognition for song of the year. These guys don't simply "noodle" around or dabble in pointless jams; instead they have thought provoking song writting to go along (as is evidenced by them winning song of the year). Tea Leaf Green picks up where others before them left off.

coontheBrain, bisco is a good band, but there is more to jamming than seeing who can play the best techno music with real instruments, sorry those frat boys scare you away from panic but next time you make a public statement, sober up and check your grammar. Looks like a 6th grader made that post. As for Mule and Panic you keep doin' what yer doin', There arn't many folks out there with opinions like coonthebrain's.

biscoon the brain, how could you say pnuma is the future of music when there are literally 100s of live-electronica bands. seems like this genre is a little played out to me, and hardly the future of music

Anyone who compares Panic to Skynrd is a freakin nerd. Widespread are musical gods, superb musicians and put on a show like nobody else around. Kickass show last night in Raleigh.

biscoonthebrain, first of all look up the rule on the use of "their, there and they're". second of all, think before you speak. bisco is decent at best, and "drunk frat boys" at UPenn are the reason they are even popular. Second of all, before you diss Beck and the Flaming Lips listen to their music. They incorporate a lot of the same elements of the disco biscuits, but they do a better job of it. Panic and Mule are legitimate old school rock with amazing musicians, and Bisco uses Ace of Base samples. And I have heard of Grace Potter, but I've never heard of Pnuma. Stop dissing music you don't know, and work on your grammar.

anybody who has doubts about the moe show should check out ( http://stash.nugs.net/moe/050210_mp3.asp?artist=3&show=325&cmd=shows }. Its an all around solid show, aside from the fact someone else brought up about a good cause and what not. also biscoon... do you think its possible even though a "band you've never even heard of" could be better than one you like?

Since the musical experience is an entirely subjective one, I would say that the individuals who make the decision about jammys awards made that decision based on their own experiences and understanding of the community. if you personally prefer southern rock over trancefusion, thats fine, and most acts which are considered a part of this site will dominate most musical acts in general. i am most grateful to have knowledge of jambase, archive, etree, and the rest of it. i'm not familiar with the specific moe performance, but anything with medeski (and trey) playing together is bound to transcend normal musical undertakings. as for bisco, they rule your face, and thats that. most original band out there, seriously if you can't get with it, then please re evaluate your life. its fine if you dont get it, but , ehh, nevermind. joseph

Why are so many folks hatin' on the Disco Biscuits? There isn't another band in our scene that rolls like them. There are bands with similar styles, but they are very unique in the way they conduct themselves on stage & in the studio. I find it hard to understand why there is so much negativity in our community toward other bands. Music lifts me to heights that I never thought were possible. Who cares what band gets the next person off as long as they are getting off? I am not trying to preach but I dont care if you love PANIC or TDB as long as it makes your day, month or year!

Peace

bisco, you are very narrow minded and childish. Have you ever stopped to listen to WSP? Because from your comment, I wouldn't think so. They are very talented musicians and put on a phenomenal show. The fact that you can't open ur eyes to see that is sad. I pray that you can someday realize this.

Biscoonthebrain, you would'nt know good music if it sat on your face. Panic brings the fuck'n heat! The bisco fuck'n blows man they are lame ass tranc jam bullshit done by white dudes who think they bring the funk. Panic should'nt even be on jambase, they are way above and beyond the bands everyone thinks rule. Panic has the southern soul thats been missing for a while. Go listen to your noodle music, the rest of us will enjoy the nice southern weather and blast the panic loud!

One thing to say, Pnuma trio is decent, but they didn't spend enough time in the local bars honing their skills to get an original sound...CoughTrustFundKidsCough, They are good but not as original as they could be.

first off i wanna say the jammys look so fun w/ the combinations, second off some of you people need to learn how to say "in my opinion". i would also like to a make a couple points; im my opinon panic is the best by a long shot , or perhaps i should say the give ME that musical high that we go to shows for, after that i love other stuff before the rest of the wsp circuit(tishingmo NMAS outformation ect.) UM AND bisco and moe in no perticular order are my second fav. now: IMO that moe benefit was deffinately one of the best shows of the year, meat w/ trey... nuff said. i love the biscuits music,BISCOONTHEBRAIN but keep in mind that the are the self proclaimed, i am quaoting "best band in the world" and have been talking alot lately at taking it to another level , like being able to play MSG but the fan base is so unwelcoming to newcommers. i hear you ON THE lameness of how many frat boys are at panic shows but most of them just arent hometowners gettin loaded, a lot of them like the music, the crowd in raleigh was awesome everybody was introducing themselves and gettin along, bottom line if you find that one band that tickles your fancy, good for you see them as much as possible, dont hate on newbies, and when a guest in another circuit just be nice and nobodys difference in aperarance shouldn ruin the music for you right? one last thougt i missed the big summer classic but im sure that was SICK everynite, everyone enjoy their band of choices' summer tours and if anyone has any of the 06 amsterjam stuff pleas seed it somewere, it isn't on archive

Congrats to the artist. No complaints here. The only problem I had was with the Big Summer. I was supposed to be a Sumo at Penn's Landing, but they cancelled that on us down there and never so much as emailed us guys or anything. I almost lost my job to go, and they couldnt even give us the courtesy. Oh well. The music kicked ass though. Up to the bands for the fat tour, down to the PR yucks or whoever boned me on that. Roo in 2 :)

i saw the tsunami benefit; one of few shows i was able to see this year. i just have to comment, medeski was righteous, but factor in trey+ sam bush (each soloing during two set breaks that one only hopes never end)+ patches+ jen hartswick+ it was for charity. but this wasn't the best show i saw this year; it was probably the best show i've ever seen and i've seen a few!

"Frat boys and drunk girls glorify PAnic like their Gods,..." as opposed to spun-out wookies with their head stuck up their own asses, who think their band is the only band that matters."...when really there just one step away from Lynard Skynard." Hell yeah, I'm sure Panic would thank you for the compliment, Skynyrd is one of the best Southern Rock bands ever.

The moe. Tsunami Relief show was insane. If memory serves, that was the first time that they played Plane Crash in New York City since the unfortunate 9/11 attacks. And listening to them covering Peaches en Regalia was incredible. I psyched that this show got best performance of the year because it deserved that honor.

I saw Pnuma open for Particle on 420 and I agree that they're good........ but not award good. Fun to dance to and they're key player looks like he's 6 & 1/2. Would have like to see an UM award but I'm not gonna get my panties in a bunch about it. Also I'm looking to fowm a band of illiterate self-hating albinos if there are any out there who want to rock!

Seriously...fuck WSP...They play like a bunch of old men, they couldn't entertain a nursing home. SOAM84, you're right, WSP shouldn't be on jambase, jambase is for jambands, not southern soft rock crap. I also have to agree with Biscoonthebrain that jam fests (such as Bonnaroo) have sold out, it won't be long before Bonnaroo is chock full of barbie doll high school girls and lame ass jocks. Indie and jam just don't mix, IMO. It is all about the Bisco and the UM. Best two bands around today.

Here's a retrospective photo gallery from that night. It was definitely an amazing performance.
