Preservation Hall proudly presents the grand re-opening and 45th Anniversary celebration on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 at 8 p.m. during the first weekend of the 2006 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. In honor of the occasion, Preservation Hall has created The New Orleans Revue, a multi-faceted musical extravaganza combining the traditional sounds of New Orleans Jazz with Mardi Gras revelry, and many surprises. Preservation Hall will also present a concert series featuring artists including the critically acclaimed The Bingo! Show, Stanton Moore Trio, and national artists including JJ Grey of MOFRO. See below for full schedule.

Founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe, Preservation Hall is a living tribute to the music of New Orleans. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band began touring in 1963 and has performed in an incomparable variety of settings including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Hollywood Bowl. Under the auspices of current director, Benjamin Jaffe, the son of the founders, Preservation Hall continues with its original mission.

Following the events damaging New Orleans, Benjamin Jaffe and his wife Sarah, founded the New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund which has distributed to date over $500,000 to New Orleans musicians affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. A portion of proceeds from the 45th Anniversary performances will benefit the relief fund.

If your looking to do the small jam-jazz sessions at JazzFest this year, these shows would be a good call. Nothing more Nawlins' than Preservation Hall. You know its called that becasue it "preserves" local New Orleans music. Some other intimate spots would be DBA, The Maple Leaf, and the Dragon's Den. COME ON DOWN TO NEW ORLEANS and HAVE YO'SEF A TREAT!
