Hookahville, the Ohio festival institution celebrating its 25th
production since its humble, rural beginnings in 1994, has confirmed the lineup
for the spring event Friday and Saturday, May 26-27 at Legend
Valley (formerly Buckeye Lake Music Center) in Thornville,
Ohio.
The two-day music and camping event is hosted by the Columbus, Ohio group,
ekoostik hookah
and features their trademark two nights of headlining shows. The popular
jamband is turning heads and going back to its roots by bringing original co-founder,
guitarist/vocalist John
Mullins, back into the band after a departure nearly a decade ago.
This year's Hookahville lineup crosses genre boundaries blending top
talents within the improvisational rock music world and ranges to diverse, new-school
bluegrass sounds. Saturday's mainstage lineup begins with the energetic
and playful "newgrass" of the Yonder
Mountain String Band and continues with one of the top bands the scene has
to offer with a performance from a re-energized Blues
Traveler. Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
Tickets for Hookahville are available
now online for $50 in advance through March 31 and will move to the next
level of pricing as of April 1. Early bird camping is available beginning Thursday
May 25 at 4 p.m. for an additional $20 fee, with paid festival admission, for
campers who want first pick at campsite locations and to hear additional bands
perform.
Hookahville has designated camping areas for the handicapped and families and
those with children; additionally, children ten and under are admitted free with
a paid adult, and the festival is an all ages event. Camping is included in
the price of admission, with primitive camping services available, bathrooms,
medical staff, water are provided. Vendors are set up offering various cuisines
as well as a wide variety of merchandise.
Hookahville, the band's home-thrown festival featuring two nights of music
and camping in Ohio's quiet green hills, has been called by fans the best
music festival in the Midwest. The biannual happening began in 1994 as a camp-out
on band co-founder Dave
Katz's wooded land. Growing steadily, it has since been held at different
venues on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.
Hookahville allows the band to create its ideal "no hassles or bad attitudes" playing environment and share it with many fine live acts. In the past, Ratdog,

Galactic, Jazz
Mandolin Project, Leftover
Salmon, Keller Williams,
among dozens of others have played the Hookahville stage.
