ekoostik hookah finished the year off with a "C" themed New Year's Run. Sold out shows rocked crowds in Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, and culminating with New Year's Eve at Cleveland's Agora Theater. Song debuts included Raging River and Secrets In the Kiln. On New Year's Eve, the band seamlessly blended songs into the sets and peaked at midnight with a countdown and an uncorking of a 40's bottle of champagne which segued into a 'hookahfied', bluegrass-flavored Auld Lang Syne. Diving into unique, 25 minute takes on Pink Floyd's Echoes and the omnipresent Also Sprach Zarathustra theme from 2001: A Space Oddessey, ekoostik hookah had the attention of everyone in the theater. The 2001 theme was layered thick with hookah's dynamic and pounding rhythm section of Eric Lanese and Johnny Polansky on drums and percussion. A triple encore began with a new, upbeat, R&B flavored Dave Katz original song aptly called Happy New Year. Keepin Time kept feet dancing and even after the lights came on and people began to leave, the lights dropped and I Am The Walrus finished the first set of a brand new year.
