Although most of the bands featured at the Grammy Awards are not exactly our cup of tea, there were a number of acts nominated that we really dig (Arcade Fire, Beck, Death Cab for Cutie, the White Stripes, Gorillaz, Bruce Springsteen etc), but for the most part it was the Kanye West, Mariah Cary, U2 show.
U2 landed five awards, Kanye, Carey and John Legend each took home three and Stevie Wonder was awarded two. We were also pleased to see Alison Krauss and Union Station take three awards, and the Del McCoury Band finally got their first Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album!
Other artists we were proud to see win included Les Paul for Best Pop Instrumental ("Caravan"), B.B. King for Best Traditional Blues Album, Sonny Rollins for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo, Pat Metheny, Tim O'Brien and Martin Scorsese for his documentary No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.
