Hairy Apes BMX
Say it ain't so! The Hairy Apes BMX announced an upcoming hiatus, leaving many fans wondering just how they will get their butts moving again. After eight years of making music together it is time for the band to explore other avenues of creativity... at least for a time.

While there is no substitute for the Hairy Apes BMX, you can get your vibraphone fix with the soon-to-debut Mike Dillon's GoGo Jungle. It will feature Mike Dillon (Hairy Apes BMX, Garage A Trois, Critters Buggin, Les Claypool, Billy Goat), GoGo Ray (Billy Goat, Karma), and JJ "Jungle" Richards (Hairy Apes BMX, Mystery Sister). Tour dates are available here on JamBase. Also, look for Mike Dillon's GoGo Jungle on upcoming dates with Galactic.

Come on out and say farewell to Mike, JJ, Clarke, and John. Shake it one more time, as the band concludes its annual, and possibly final, ski-bum tour in Colorado. Hairy Apes BMX will be playing with the Dead Kenny Gs on the following dates:

02.08 | Belly Up | Aspen, CO
02.09 | Boulder Theatre | Boulder, CO
02.10 | Bluebird Theatre | Denver, CO
02.11 | Aggie Theatre | Ft. Collins, CO

Only saw these guys once at the now-defunct Tribeca Rock Club. Skerik guested and they rocked the eff out. Best part was a cover of Slick Rick's "Adults Only" ("Ain't no way to be subtle / when I want the butthole"). Pretty sure I was the only one there who knew it. I saw a taper there so if anyone's got it, let me know. I specifically remember sneaking in a sixer of Heineken darks one by one through the front door. Mike D could pass for a punk Dubya. Come back soon guys. You're the only jammers I ever moshed to.

I saw a show in Santa Cruz and it was really wicked. Wish I could make it to Colorado for the last shows. Peace out, HABMX. You'll be missed.

no f#@**!* way!! if anything is worthy of starting a revolution, this is it. the world without hairy apes, i don't think so. each and every one of us should let high sierra know that it won't be a complete festival without these beautiful men rocking our butts off.

I loved these guys each time I saw them. Glad to hear about Mike's new project - Super glad to hear that JJ is working with Mike as well.

Appreciate how Mike approaches art.

Everybody everybody take your clothes off! Mike D. and GoGo Ray together again! The original Billygoat rhythm section is back! Yeah baby! If you never saw them back in the day, you'll want to see them now. My old band did a midwest tour opening for them back in '96, and I was treated to a sick show every night. These guys are intense!

I will miss HABMX so much. They deserve the break while Mike is off with other bands. It's gonna get small y'all for a while and then you know what? It will get hard and funky real soon. Someone in CO yell out, "Song In The Key Of Rock" for Trevor in Seattle please!
