Brotherhood of Groove
New Orleans' hottest funk bands are teaming up to bring this unbelievable Mardi Gras Grooves Tour to the Northeast for Carnival season. This party driven line-up has been organized by Brandon Tarricone and his Brotherhood of Groove, to keep the spirit of Mardi Gras alive and bring that raging party to the Northeast along with friends Big Sam's Funky Nation (Dirty Dozen Brass Band), New Orleans Juice, and special guests Joe Krown (Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown), Sam Kininger, and Jonathan Batiste.

Because Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans so hard, and effected so many musicians and bands, many have been displaced to areas around the country. A positive side of the disaster has been the spreading of the wonderful culture and music of New Orleans to different areas of the country, for others to appreciate. Brotherhood of Groove made their move into western Massachusetts where the Mardi Gras Grooves tour will be headed. The goal was to not only bring the Carnival vibe to the Northeast, but to ensure that the New Orleans Mardi Gras Vibe is kept alive for all the bands. In addition to sets by each band BOG will be furthering the Mardi Gras experience by hosting the "BOG Carnival Horns," and culminating each night with a New Orleans music set including all musicians.

Big Sam is well known for his years of touring with the Dirty Dozen, during this tour he will be bringing out his full Funky Nation band. New Orleans Juice with piano player Joe Krown will be opening up each night.

There are a few special events along the tour, including a Katrina relief benefit show at Umass on Feb. 22nd, of which all proceeds will go to the Red Cross. There is also a highly anticipated party at R&R, a new venue in New York, which promises to be a very special night for all. Along with the music you can expect costumes, beads, second lines and even possible spontaneous nakedness. This is going to be a serious party, so put this one on your calendar and don't miss it!!
