No its not another indie band that just made it into the scene. Wilco has been around for a while, and Jeff tweedy has done some amazing stuff with uncle tupalo before Wilco. They blow most of these shitty unoriginal jambands out of the water.

Yes, if you crave a little more than a jam of rudimentary scales and chord progressions: you crave actual songwriting. Wilco has done that for a good while.

Wilco, is one of the best band touring out there now. Years back I didn't think there would ever be any new band that would capture my heart like the ones before I was born. I really thought rock/n/roll was over, but this band has restored my faith is music. I've been following them for about 4 years and have been lucky enough to be at some historic shows, 9:30 club "D.C", Madison Square "NYC", Thomas Wolfe "Asheville, Owens "Charlotte."

These two nights in Chapel Hill in March will be great, I highly recommend if you live within 4 or 5 hours

Yes, maybe some people are "way to into the jamband scene", but that's why we have a website called "Jambase", for people who are more or less obsessed with Jambands........It's pretty simple, If you are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay into jambands, you come to this site......Not for some pop- indie crap, with all due respect.

What is a jamband anyhow? Definition please... what makes jamband a genre. I think JamBase is for all LIVE music. With all due respect marcsmall1... you should learn to appreciate all aspects of musical ingenuity.

IMHO, JamBase is the definitive LIVE MUSIC resource on the world wide web. And I'd like to think we're all a little better off because of it.

open your mind and your ass will follow...

Wilco really is one of the great bands.. in the end you just have to do what you do best... and Wilco has songwriting down like the world hasn't seen since Dylan or the Beatles. Like I said you do what you do best, Jambase is one of the best music sites around, and they cover music well - its good to see some diversity in the bands they are covering. If you don't like to hear a great band doing what they are great at, would you rather want Wilco to attempt to be a jam band just for your sake? Doesn't it make sense to cover bands who are doing something original and inspiring.. isn't that where Jam music stems from in the first place, doing your thing and doing it the best and the most awe inspiring (with control, affect, and precision I might add)? So thanks Jambase for covering a band who is doing their thing, and doing it damn well. That is surely the Jam spirit, and we are all better for it.

Take it from a 38 year old phish head who was seeing jerry and phish in the 80's. wilco rocks! Seems to me that Trey is the one that is getting all poppy.

The term "jam bands" has evolved into meaning any band that has long "jams" or instrumental songs that basically makes their living by extensive touring, word of mouth, and allowing taping. With that in mind, not all "jam bands" follow the same formula of spacey, trippy jams. Take an excellent band like Umphrey's, which is heavier than most "jam bands" and is now being labeled as "prog rock". Should that exclude them from being on this site? Should playing good live music keep any band off this site? I think that we as music lovers should embrace a band that our gracious web master decides to put on this site. There are quite a few bands I hate that are on this site, but you just gotta roll with the punches.

Must we label everything? Remember when Dylan went electric? Labels are for soup cans. Wilco rules!!!!!!!!
