 Grandaddy |
In a surprise announcement, Grandaddy recently told both NME and Pitchfork that the band is breaking up. With little fanfare, no good-bye tour and an album (Just Like the Fambly Cat) still set for a May 9th release, the band is done.
The official demise occurred after a band meeting in December. Singer/guitarist/keyboardist co-founder Jason Lytle recently told NME: "We had the opportunity to get it out into the open and come to terms with the fact that we gave it a pretty good go. We had witnessed the best it could be... It's awkward right now... but it was far from throwing blows. It was kind of sad, because we knew it would be the last time we would hang out in that situation, so we dragged it out as long as we could!"
While Lyte has not indicated where his musical vision will take him, he plans to continue making music.
