Margot & The Nuclear So and So's was formed in 2004 by singer/songwriter Richard Edwards. In addition to Edwards the band features Andy Fry (guitar), Jesse Lee (cello), Emily Watkins (piano), Hubert Glover (trumpet), Chris Fry (drums), Casey Tennis (drums/percussion), and Tyler Watkins (bass). JamBase recently caught up with the band to get a little insight into what they are all about.

Where are you guys from and how long have you been playing music together?
We're from Alaska. We've known each other for ten years but have been playing music together for twice as long.
What does the name Margot & The Nuclear So and So's mean?
It's about the dual nature of the modern woman - anger, fear, loathing, love, acceptance. All of these and more are common emotions that any young person faces in the course of their life, whether it be short or long.
Is there someone named Margot in the band?
We all legally changed our middle names to Margot, but other than that, no.
What artists have most influenced your music?
Air Supply, Blood on the Canvas, Speed Animal. Those are a few of the main ones.
Tell us about your debut record The Dust of Retreat. What's it like?
It's like drinking another shot at a bar where you have already consumed far
too much of the devil's juice. It's like waking up with a splitting headache and a French actress in your bed. It's a hole in a boat on the way to an island in the Pacific.
How does it feel to have a new record deal? Has this been a lifelong dream for the band?
No. We were hoping not to be signed, but there are bills to pay and our label seems very nice.
When will we see the band on tour and where will you be playing?
We are playing in the East, West, North, and South all throughout 2006. We will be everywhere, so it shouldn't be too hard to catch us.
