Usually the day after Christmas is a day of rest. You’ve eaten tons of food and talked to countless family members and therefore need some time to relax. However, by mid afternoon you’re ready to get back into the swing of things and there is certainly nothing better to do on the day after Christmas than rock late into the night……
Those in the New York City area should come out to the Wetlands and check out a few very cool and intriguing bands.
Lake Trout will be headlining the show with 2 sets starting at 11:30pm. Some view them as one of the leading bands in the developing live Electronica scene. Mixing a jungle/drum & bass groove sound, the band explores some deep and dark musical territories . Their drummer is in a league of his own, and can pull off beats that would make you think he was not a man, but a machine. Get to see this band soon, as they will be going out on the road with Galactic and Les Claypool’s Flying Frog Brigade in January.
Also on the bill is Brothers Past. Hailing from Philadelphia, PA the BPers
are back in NYC with a new drummer. They have a solid bunch of songs that dip into the exploratory techno rock territory.
Opening the show is MB 2000 who call themselves Vocal Percussionists. They are capable of some crazy live beatbox sounds.
And be sure to catch Loop Dreams who will be playing all night downstairs
in the lounge. They are an instrumental trance/drum&bass live electronic band. They’ve dubbed their sound as Supersonic Rocktronica. As a 4-piece band consisting of drums, bass, guitar, and synth guitar, Loop Dreams produces sounds that range from ambient trance to hard rocking techno and house grooves.
It certainly will be a super solid night of music and a chance to see a few bands creating some interesting new sounds and styles in music. And what else do you have to do the day after Christmas besides returning those unwanted gifts?
